Deep River Water Park, August 4th

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVuGurl1203 on August 4th, 2005, 7:59 pm
I went to Deep River Water Park today for my best friend's graduation party. It was a good day to go since it was raining a little bit and there were no crowds so we got on plenty of rides. Here is what we did, not in order:

The Dragon
Times went on: 3
Rating: 10/10
The Dragon is two high speed slides that take you practically straight down. I was deathly afraid to go on them so I watched my friends ride it at first. I've never been on a body slide before (besides kiddie ones like at Skull Island) so I was too afraid to go on them. I got a sick feeling in my stomach just thinking about it. Well, at one point my friends and my boyfriend started dragging me up those steps. I had no idea why I was so scared, I thought that they looked awesome but I was just really afraid. Once I finally got myself on one of them, I just wanted to do it over and over. I went on the same one a second time, and then I tried the steeper slide. I was still freaked out because it was so steep. But they both were really AWESOME, and after today, I will not hesitate to go on body slides anymore. These have to be the best slides I have ever been on.

Bowl Slides
Times went on: 5
Rating: 9/10
This was one of the first things we went on. Since I love the ones at SFHH I enjoyed them and kept on riding them.

The Storm
Times went on: 5
Rating: 9/10
I love black tube slides so these were extremely fun. Got a little bit of airtime on two of them.

Pipeline Express & Slidewinder Body Slides
Times went on: 3
Ratings: 8/10 & 9/10
Of course I did not hesitate to go on these body slides. I went on Pipeline Express first, it was pretty cool. Then I went on Slidewinder twice because it was totally awesome and I went sideways a few times. It scared me the first time but I loved it!

Whitewater Run Tube Slide
Times went on: 1
Rating: 7/10
This was also pretty fun. Probably more of a family type slide, but it was worth it.

Wave Pool
Times went on: 2
Rating: 6/10
The wave pool here is alright. The waves sucked when we were in there, but it was still fun. We even used lifejackets to go into the deep end :D

Lazy River
Times went on: 2
Rating: 7/10
This lazy river is really cool. I personally like it better than the one at SFHH. It was fun, and both times we went on we stayed in for a while, haha.

Wacky Courthouse
Slides went on: 1
Rating: 7/10
This is pretty much like Skull Island, just not as many slides. We weren't in there for long, but we had a good time.

Other things...
-The food sucks, especially the pizza. I think the pizza made me a little sick.
-I love the lifeguards, they are more interactive with the guests than at SFHH. One lifeguard poured a bottle of water on some people's heads before going down the slide.
-The speed slides sting your back when you go down. I also got a huge wedgie from them

Overall, I had a great time at the water park. I went on everything and it was totally worth it. I plan on coming back soon because I think I'm addicted to the Dragon :) . If you haven't been to this water park, I suggest you take a trip up there, it is awesome.

Great TR. I've been wanting to stop at this waterpark for a long time now...I drive past it every time I return to college in Ohio. It's so easy to get to right off U.S. 30, and doesn't take more than an hour and a half (with good traffic conditions) to get to from Chicago's Northwest Suburbs. Thanks for the info, and I look forward to a visit soon!

I've wanted to go out there...But now with HH I really don't see a point. Sounds like you had fun though.

I looked online and saw their price for a single season pass is $120! Do you know how much their regular admission price is? This price is definitely not a good value.

You have no idea how small buisness works. SF can get away with cheaper season passes because of how large of a corp. they are.

Numerous Smaller parks have season passes high or higher than that.

The waterpark is owned and run by the local park district.

Edit:

Your also blind

So.. you'd have to go at least eight times to pay it off.. I just don't see many people going out to a water park eight times or more. There's really no incentive in getting it. I can see 4 times.. that would leave it about $65.

Why do you have to be so rude calling me blind? Their pricing isn't really emphasized anywhere. I guess I can be rude also.. It's "you're" not "your".

I used to go to Deep River every summer until traveling over the Indiana border became such a pain with construction. Now I really have no reason to go back since SFGAm built a waterpark, but it is a really nice waterpark.

As for who would buy thier season passes. Locals, im sure alot of people who live nearby the park buy the passes. I know people around my neighborhood used to pay around $100 for a park pool season pass every summer, and that's just a pool.
Go Bulls!
