Wisconsin Dells 6/23, 6/24 Coaster Con week

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Danhockey04 on June 25th, 2005, 11:38 am
We left for the Dells at about 4:00 am to pick up a few people. We arrived at Mt. olympus at 9:50 because the highway was closed off for a real bad accident and we stopped to eat.

The first thing that we headed to was Hades. This ride is just amazing, the tunnel is so cool, but you really cannot feel the over-banked 93 degree angle turn. They will NOT let you re-ride. I rode it a total of 7 times, 1 night ride.

I also got on all the other coasters there, Zeus was not too good. Cyclops was amazing in back row, it has some amazing air time. The other ones were just decent.

We rode about three or four go-cart tracks, the best being Medusa's Drop. They also have a Disk'O, which I rode 3 times because it was really cool. Also, they bought the Robo-coaster from across the street and was installing it when we were there. It was supposedly to open on Friday night.

We went over to the water park, which had the best slide I was ever on. The yellow family slide had some amazing turns that we almost flipped over on. Their racers were not any better than Wahoo, Wahoo was better.

Finally, my night ride on Hades story. Just for your information, if you are not on the ride by 10:00, you cannot ride, even if you are in line. Well, I got up there in the station by 9:57, they told me I can't ride, but I said it wasn't 10:00 yet. So we got a manager up in the station, and he wouldn't let us ride. Then the ACErs were getting pissed off at their policy, and told them to let all of us ride, but that didnt work. Then the manager ruined it for him by saying if you were in the station by 10:00, you can ride. I told him I was in the station at 9:57 and she wouldn't let me ride. So he gave in and let everyone ride.

They have really bad operations at Mt. Olympus, they were no checking of harnesses, crossing the tracks whenever they felt like it, no watching the ride at all, the ops were half aslepp, and the big one, they were running the rides with people during a lightening storm right over the park.

Timber Falls

This park is a nice little park, which has the best Wooden coaster I have ever been on in it. Avalanche is just amazing. I rode it 57 times in just under 2 hours. They have a cool log flume ride, and a cool mini-golf course. We didnt spend too much time there.

Friday 6/24

Noah's Ark

We got there at 8:50 am on Friday. We went straight to Black Andaconda, which was not good at all, we literally stopped on every conveyor belt on each lift. The Master Blasters are much better than the Pro-Slide type.

The Plunge was awesome, it was much better than Wahoo Racers, that slide gives you so much air time.

The Point of No Return was a cool drop slide that provided a fast, short ride.

The family slides there were decent, they could have better, there were few good turns on them, and they weren't too fast.

The Incredible Adventure was interesting. They had the evalvator seem like it really was moving, which they did a good job on, and the ride actually seems like you go up-side down. They have good illusions there. Also the nice mirror maze at the end was cool.

We got on everything there in less than 3 hours, so we sat around and left at 2:30.

We headed out, had to pick everyone up and left the Dells. We stopped at OCB in Madison, and dropped off a couple of people in Milwaukee. Then we were driving home, and decided to stop at SFGAm, we got there at 8:40.

We rode Demon and Deja Vu last dispatch.

Then my trip was over  , and I was very tired.

I can't believe some of these policies I've heard about at Mt Olympus. I'm not even going to bother going. They really should research what good customer service is or it will be their doom.

They already lost my 32 dollars and I've never even been there. I mean honestly, how many trains could possibly be needed after 10pm to get everyone in line a ride? It's one thing to make people spread out to different rows like any other park would...but just stop the ride at 10pm? Get real!

I've heard nothing but negative things so far about this park on here and other sites. Is it because they have the only "amusement park" in the dells (so far) and feel they can do whatever they want? Or are they really that ignorant that they don't know how to run it like any other park would?

I really do wish this park luck, sounds like they're going to need it. Thanks for listening to my rant but I get so mad everytime I hear the way this parks customer service is.

I will agree with the lousty/unsafe policies at Mt. Olympus. They offer no-rerides at all, even if there is hardly anyone in line. The day i went Tues. 06/21/05 they had a male ride-op who was supposed to be controling the ride, but he had his head down and slept/dozed off for at least 45 minutes and a female ride-op reached over him to start the ride. The ride op-s often walked over the tracks as a ride pulled into the stattion as they talked amonst themsleves in russian while the ride was in operation and just looked at restraints too see that they were on without actually tugging on the lapbar to make sure it was in a locked postion. Since they spoke little english you couldnt talk to them and they had no idea at all of customer relations. We got in line for Hades at 930pm and was told the ride closes at 1000pm and we might not get on the ride and if we dont, too bad!!!
The park badly needs to hire someone who has some knowledge in customer relations and safety in a modern theme park.
Timber falls also had similiar problems of employee's walking over the track in a unsafe manner while the train pulled in, but the ride-ops were friendly and madfe it seem they cared that you had a good time which wasnt evident at all at Mt Olympus.

Ha I was there with Dan when the whole 10:00 thing happened....I thought I was extremely stupid that the singled out the purple wrist-banders instead of shutting off the que at 10:00. As for me, I had a purple wristband and got two rides at night, and 3 during the day on hades...One with the lights in the tunnel turned on, which was really awsome! But yeah I had to leave early friday morning and drive to Cincinatti, but got to go to PKI for a few hours.....Kinda a dumpy park, but eh its Paramount!

Bob O...believe it or not employees walking across the tracks is very common at smaller non-corporate parks. Besides seeing it at Mt. Olympus and Timberfalls they do it all the time at Indiana Beach as well. Although I always see them walk behind the train at I.B. I have never seen them jump across the tracks in front of the moving train like I saw the ride ops at Timberfalls and Mt. Olympus do.

Well, it that is the case at smaller parks, then they need to do a much better job of training there employee's on safety as i have never seen this at a park before.

They do that at Holiday World too. Someone that I met at SFKK said that they let him cross the tracks when he was at Timber Falls.

Mt. Olympus's workers are really lazy and irresponsible, but as long as you can check your own lap bar then you're fine.

It was basically no re-rides for me on Hades. Cyclops crew didn't care much and the guy on Zeus (when he wasn't dozing off) looked around for managers then let us ride again.
