SFOG 8-15

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby sfgam on August 17th, 2004, 11:12 am
We arrived at Six flags over georgia at around 11:30. We first rode Georgia cyclone, which was a walk on. There were only two ride ops, running the ride, which I thought was weird. Georgia cyclone was modeled after the coney island cyclone, and so was viper at sfgam. After riding both the Georgia cyclone and viper, I would have to say that viper was better.
After that we went to Georgia scorcher, which had a 5 or so minute wait, again, the employees were slow, they would talk to each other for a while and then check the harnesses. That ride was stacked really bad. It was a good ride though. Then we proceeded to Ninja which had a one or two train wait. That is now my favorite vekoma looper, I thought it was very good. And the ride ops on that ride were better than on the other rides but still not good.
Then we did the great american scream machine which had a 5 or so minute wait. The ride ops on that ride were also slow, and that ride was always stacked. But that ride is amazing! There is so much air time, and it has some pretty good drops.
Then we ate lunch, and since I am used to eating at sfgam, I thought it was disappointing about their food, the food wasn’t bad, but the selection was. Then we did the antique cars, which had ride ops that actually went fast and they were doing a really good job. And then we did the bumper cars which had 2 rounds of a wait. The ride ops there were really slow also. They would daddle for a while and then check the restraints, which they did slow.
Then we went to S:UF, where the line was like 15 minutes. It wasn’t stacked too bad, not much worse than S:UF at sfgam. I love that ride, why didn’t sfgam get that tunnell? I really liked the tunnell there.
Then we did GASM again, we waited like five minutes. Then the people I was with wanted to do a water ride, which we waited like 45 minutes for. The ride was pretty good.
Then we went to mindbender, which was a walk on. The ride ops there did a good job. Mindbender is a really good ride in my opinion, it is really intense and the lap bar makes it seem like you are going to fall out.
Then it was time for acrophobia, which had like a five minute wait, the ride ops there, were slow again, but it still has a pretty high capacity. That is now my favorite drop tower, it is an amazing ride. Then we left at 6 o clock which was what time the park is supposed to close.
All in all the day was great. The rides there are amazing, but the park isn’t so amazing. They either need more staff or just faster staff. Also, they should spruce up the park a lot more, there isn’t much themeing that I noticed, it all seemed pretty much the same except for gothom city. One more thing they could use is a B&M hyper. If they did all of this stuff, then this park could be a lot better!

Viper uses two ops all the time to, the only need for another one is for grouper because they rarely stack even with two ops. Plus theres two aux panels.

That's bad that the park closes at 6. I was there in May and it closed at 6 which makes sense. The Georgia Cyclone has the same layout, but it is nothing like Viper. I enjoy the Georgia Cyclone a lot more. Were they running one or two trains on Mindbender? Mindbender is a great ride, and so is The Great American Scream Machine.

Last time I was on Viper, they had three ride ops.

Did you notice that the balloons were smaller and what they did to "Whirlgig"? LOL
How can you skip the Mine Train?

I'm glad to see you had a good time, and that I am not the only one that thought Ninja was a great ride! I thought the head choppers were great, and the layout was nice and twisted, with interesting inversions. :)

I too loved GASM. It actually was my favorite ride in the park. The air was incredible, and it looked beautiful with it's new paint. I'd swap it for AE any day! :P

I would swap either of those two, GASM or GC for the Am E.

I like viper better than the georgia cyclone because viper is so smooth. They were running two trains on mindbender. And how can i skip the mine train? I really don't like mine trains.

My feelings exactly. Actually, besides the Mine Train, Cyclone was my least liked coaster in the park.

Can I help it, sometimes I love rough rides. However, if you guys are going for only smooth rides, GASM is not that smooth either.

Wow, sounds like you had a good day. How come the lines are so short there. Is it always like that?

No, when I went in May (18th and 19th I believe), people were all over the place. Mindbender and BTR had a awful big wait along with the rapids ride. I would say I spent 40 minutes in each of these over there.

school in georgia has already started, so that explains why the waits were so short.

Yes!! :)

The way I describe roughness is that GASM was the 'fun' type of rough. Cyclone was the 'my back is breaking' rough. (For me anyways)

I dont think that gc was that rough. But GASM's roughfnessess really added to the ride.

I didn't really like GASM, and like IlovtheVu, I thought that Georgia Cyclone was better then Viper, there is crazy airtime on that ride.

And yes the tunnel on S:UF makes the ride so much better along with better themeing throughout the ride including the cliff when you are going up the lift.

When I went to SFOG two years ago it also closed at 6. Unfortunately, when I went, they were taking down Viper/Tidal Wave. I didn't get a chance to ride it or S:UF. :(
