Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVu The Ride on August 18th, 2004, 9:17 pm
Date: August 16, 2004(Monday)
Time in Park: 10-10:30
Crowds: Heavy(Most of the main parking lot was full, all the way to American Eagle.
Rides closed: Ice Mountain Splash, American Eagle Blue
Weather: Nice and Sunny most of the day, 80 as a high and around 62-63 for a low

So my uncle said he would go with me to the park, and we left at about 8:45. Traffic wasn't bad, so we got to the park around 9:45 and I was through the gates by 9:55 and my uncle came in just after 10.

It looked like it was going to be a busy day, so we went to check if DejaVu had opened(or even tested for that matter.) When we saw the entrance, it looked closed because the queue looked empty and a few people were gathered around the entrance. Then I saw a trainload of people and entered the line. We went all the way up to almost the blocker and then went to row 1A. We waited at most 10 minutes and we were strapped in. It was my shortest wait ever for DejaVu.

Next we went to ride the Demon. It was a walk-on and we waited for 6:1, which is the smoothest(and best row). They were running the red and yellow trains. Later in the day, Demon had all the switchbacks by the station filled, and the line reached near the entrance.

Next, we went back to Revolution where there was no line. So we got on and there was only like 8 people on the ride. So the ride started and then early on we started to slow down then it felt as if the ride was ending, then I realized it had broke down, because we weren't spinning anymore and the entrance and exit to the pendulum were not aligned to the loading/unloading stations. So we were stuck for 10-15 minutes in the hot sun. There I realized that only American Eagle Red was running today. So mechanics came and we got off after 5 minutes with them there.

Now we went to ride Iron Wolf, where we waited 5 minutes for the front row. It was running very smooth today, which was great. 2 trains running.
Next, we saw Revolution open and waited for the cycle to end. We got on and enjoyed our ride.

Next we wanted to ride Fiddler's Fling to get flung around.jk We pretty much walked-on and this thing is very fast. After I got off, I hit my head on top of the car, for like the 5th time this season. Man am I getting stupid. V2 was on the way, so we thought it was a good time to ride. The front queue was almost filled, so it was about a 30 minute wait, since the bridge wasn't being used. We rode in the 4th row because the front was too long. I love this ride(like most coasters). A sad thing though was that a total of 6 rows were blocked off, which resulted in 22 people at most on each train.

Now we went near Whirligig and jumped on for a ride. This ride is very relaxing, and it is pretty cool when your feet almost hit the trees that surround the ride. Batman was right there, so we thought we would ride, The line stretched just near Gothom City park. The line moved very quick with 2 trains. We decided to wait for the front, which resulted in a 40 minute wait. This ride is always great, but it has gotten a little rougher recently.(Maybe it was just a bad day for one of the trains.) Later in the day, Batman was stuck on the lift hill.

We headed over to East River Crawler for a ride. We waited 10 minutes and got the same car, so we could both ride on the same cycle. This ride is always great and we got 3 or 4 spins in a row twice. I loved it!

King Chaos was open with a short wait so we opted to ride. After 7 or so minutes. This ride cycle was not very good cycle and we got only 2 flips. It is still very cool, but we weren't the only ones complaining in the lack of fun to be had on the ride.

We saw that Ragin' Cajun didn't have quite a full queue, so we thought, "What the heck?". The wait time sign said 2(which I believe means 2 hours when full.) We all know it really isn't 2 hours. 1 switchback wasn't being used, and the line moved faster than normal, so we only waited 40-45 minutes. We got a yellow car and we didn't spin too much, but the ride was still fun. The purple car spun the best. Also, the brake wasn't on too hard before unlocking to spin. Also, the 6th car(purple), is on the transfer track.

Next, we went to ride the Columbia Carousel! First we rode the top, and then the bottom. The wait was walk-on. This was the most fun on a ride that I have ever had. jk The Magic Show was starting in 10 minutes, so I went to see that again with my uncle. They were showing the coaster video before it, but played mysterious music. The show was great and even had new surprises in it. It is always funny. Plus the show is only 35 minutes.

It was time for a late lunch, so we ate at Farmer's Market and I had a cheeseburger, fries, and a drink for $10. Very good meal. Now that our stomach's were full, we figured it was time for Giant Drop. The wait was only 15 minutes. The drop is fun and all, but I wouldn't wait more than a half-hour for it.

Raging Bull was using most of the 1st queue house with 3 trains, so it was a great time to ride it. The line moved very fast, so we only waited 30 minutes for the back row. It was running very good, and the Bull always delivers. Viper was next and had a pretty long line, but we still waited. It was only 30 minutes for row 3. Viper was running pretty slow today, but the airtime was still great. Our on-ride photo was hilarious!

Now we went to get sno-cones(which are very good), and we waited for the Whizzer, which was running 2 trains with a straight away line to the entrance. We waited only 15 minutes for the two back seats. This ride is a classic!(Don't I say that in all my trip reports?)

It was time for the annual ride on the Sky Trek Tower, where I didn't see any work going on for the waterpark. The ride was walk-on. The Orbit was next, and we waited 10 minutes. This ride is a blast and I love the floating sensations.

Now that it was getting dark, we decided to wait for American Eagle. The line was to the snack shack, but we still wanted to wait. The line moved fairly slow, because American Eagle Blue was closed(which seemed to be because of staffing issues.) While in line, we talked to these 2 people from Wisconsin. They were cool. Red side was running 2 trains and we waited for the front row. Total wait time was about 30 minutes. The ride was simply amazing! It was a night ride and I saw a taste American Eagles former glory! The drop was great, there was a lot of air time, and the brakes were barely catching the train! Even the ones before the last helix! The train was flying through the course and the brakes at the end were quick, because we were going so fast into them! Man, the ride almost beat out Avalanche for my number 1 woodie!

Now we wanted a night ride on Raging Bull, so we waited the 20 minutes for a back row ride. The tunnel was pitch black, which was awesome! Viper was next and had a full station. The front row had a pretty short wait, so we did that. It was cool at night and was running very fast. Also, the seat came loose during the ride, and in the station, the op just pushed it back in. We waited 15 minutes.

We had 10 minutes til close, so we high-tailed to Superman. We got in line just in time. While in the line which extended just after the switchbacks, we talked about the ride's music and we talked to some kids who thought we would have to leave the line because it was after 10. :D
We made it to the station and waited for row 8. We got on the 3rd to last ride of the night and it was really cool. We almost got to ride again, but the ops supervisor came in, so we had to leave. We waited 25 minutes and finally left the park after 10:30. Traffic was a little heavy when we were leaving, but it was ok. We stopped for gas and for Wendy's on the way out of Gurnee. Overall, it was a great day, and crowds didn't damper anything.

Just a few notes:
1. The parking lot is very dirty at the end of the night.
2. It looked like a few new parts of something were in the Employee Parking lot area.
3. DejaVu ran great all day until after 8:30, for which it closed either due to a lenghty breakdown or staffing issues.(Something funny is that people think the line is always 2 1/2 hours, even though the line was a straight line to the exit. It had only 2 switchbacks open.)
4. I asked a my friend who worked at Guest Relations about the exit pass, and she said that you have to have a wheelchair now and pay 12 bucks for the exit pass. She said, "The system has been abused, so the policy had to be changed." Way to go Six Flags!
5. Pictorium was open.

Until next time..........

That may not be the best idea to charge handicapped people access to rides .

I really like that $12 thing. However, couldn't you just rent a wheelchair? People will still keep on abusing the system.

Were the crowds really heavy? The longest you waited was 40-45 for RC and the other rides didn't seem too long. Did you see any new parts by Shockwave? I thought you don't like to spin the cars on the East River Crawler?:? Was SUF fast enough for you, and was the row still broke? Was did the pieces look like in the employee's parking lot. IW should have give you a wonderful view of it.

Crowds were relatively heavy, but the lines were pretty much filtered out.

Where did you ever get the idea that I hate to spin the cars on ERC? For one, you can't manually spin them, and second, I wasn't trying to spin the car. It spun just by the gravity and movement of the gondola.

Yes, Superman was fast enough for me and it didn't look like any rows were broken.

It is hard to describe the parts for the waterpark. It could really be for anything, but it looked like some metal supports for a ride or building.

you can spin the cars. Forgot who on the boards posted this but it does work. Just rock yourself in the car left and right. After a fewright and lefts the car will spin like crazy

I meant manually. And Ilovthevu' and I already spoke about that rocking back and forth. He called me lazy. My ride spun like crazy, without shifting the weight.

East River Crawler needs another person because ever since they added the seatbelts, it's been pretty bad. Sometimes, it seems like I waited 10 minutes while on the ride waiting for it to start up.

That's why another op is needed. I noticed that on opening day. It seems to be a popular flat ride, so why not make that known by adding another op?
