SFSTL 7/25/04 - Weird day

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby ihauntu2 on July 30th, 2004, 4:37 pm
This was my 5th trip this season, I just haven't posted tr's on it before.
I arrived at the park 10a.m. Weather was 60's and raining / drizzle all day & night. Only two attractions in the water park were open. Only a few idiots were on any kind of water ride. this made for very long lines almost all day long - read on.

Batman - 4 times 1 reg 3 fastlane

Ride - Batman is my 2nd favorite coaster here front row seat closest to the que is my favorite seat. When you come out of the 2nd loop into the flatspin it looks as if you are about to splat into the building. Toward then end of the night I rode back row for the first time and it definately seemed a bit more intense. 7/10

Lines - Used complete que minus the portion under the loading house(this is used for storage and fastlane) line extended past the entrance at points
during the day. The crew running this ride were new and spent a lot of time screwing around (at one point one op pretended to stab another op with a fake knife while the train was wating for dispatch) even when the train was in station, I have never seen Batman run this slow AVG Dispatch was 5 min each. I made a complaint to guest services about the crew.

Avg wait w/o q-bot 90 min w q-bot 25min (Crew was not even checking q-bots so it was possible for a person to cheat and just jump in line.)

Ninja - 6 times 3 reg 3 fastlane

Very rough vekoma pos, but very cool headchopper as you exit the sidewinder look up and forward, the chain bar under the hill looks as if it will tear you head right off  . My friend loved the effect which is why we rode so many times. After riding so much though I can now give tips on surviving the Ninja. Mainly avoid the back unless you want the air time on the first drop(ala Demon). Place you feet in the corners of the car to help stabalize yourself. When exiting the corkscrew brace your foot to the left, this will allow you to stay steady when the train turns sharp right, and avoid the chop to your neck that can be delivered by the OTSR( I seriously think this is how the ride got its name). Other than that have fun.
5/10

Lines for Ninja were long all day both ques houses were being used at points which is nuts considering the ride has been a walk on all season long. When we waited 30 min the second time, we decided to get q-bot. by the end of the night Ninja had turned back into a walk on though.

Avg q-bot time was 15min wait while others were waiting 1hr or so.

Mine train - 1reg 1 fastlane

Thats right we had to use fastlane on mine train during the afternoon. I love this ride and can't wait till my daughter can ride it! It is a simple low lying speed course similar to whizzer, and the suprise at the end is cool. (I'm not telling) They decorate the terrain for fright fest which makes it even better. When in the tunnel look to the right for the skeleton hanging as a joke. It isn't lit up, but it is there year round. 6/10

Lines once again were a pain and ride ops were not very attentive. On my second ride the op damn near advanced us from the blocks into the back of the other train in station. I was front row and several people yelled to get his attention. He stopped us 6ft or so from the train.

Screaming Eagle - 1 ride reg not fastlane enabled

30 min wait - Great ride fast with large drops and camel backs. If you want pure speed and air this is what you want. It is a little rough from age and they don't use trims so the sudden stop at the end can catch you off guard- just hold onto the handle in front when you pull into the blocks. Make sure to click your belt and keep it loose 6.5/10

Boss - 4 times all fastlane

Ride was not running till after 3 or so. It had been struck by lightning the night before which caused the e-stop sensor to sound every time they tried starting the ride which caused a police siren sound which could be heard around the park. I explained to one little girl later while on the lift hill That the reason why the ride was closed earlier was because it had rolled back down the lift hill and that was he reason for the sirens
I love to make people scared on the way up.

As for the ride itself see the topic ALL AROUND BAD COASTER. 4/10
Lines were full que avg wait was 1hr 45min w/o FL . 45min with it.

Mr. Freeze - 7 times 6 fastlane
My favorite ride here 0-71.8 in 3.8 seconds puts a smile on my face every time. Ride it hands up and in the back row for maximum effect. On your way up the tower look right and Colossus(180ft ferris wheel) will pass your field of vision - neat effect. Best time to ride is at night if you can score last ride on this it is awesome! Pitch bloack with only a spotlight shining on the tower. :D 10/10

Lines were full que all day all night wait was 2hr without fastlane 30-40min with it.

Also got to ride Scooby Doo - great ride current High Score is 57525
Waited only 3 minutes after riding Freeze - Fastlane strikes again

I will create a separate topic about the evils of fastlane now that I have used both kind of systems early next week.

Good day at the park left at 9:30. This is a really underated park that usually has great ops and little to no wait. The incidences I mentioned were very weird and have never happend to me at this park before. I highly reccomend it to anyone looking to try new coasters!
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.

It is a very underrated park. Someone I knew went to St. Louis before, and said there's nothing to do there. They also said that the park is not to good.

I would have to disagree. My favorite rides over there are Screamin' Eagle, along with Mr. Freeze, and the mine train. BTR is not that bad, but I believe that the rollercoaster is turned around from ours. Last time, I went was last year and I didn't have problems with the employees.

Was Excalibur open, because that thing broke when I was there (even though it was last year)? For you guys that do not know about this ride, it's spins just like the Orbit, but it goes fully upside-down once. The "arm" that holds it is where the logo is on ours instead of underneath.

Why did you go on The Boss and the Ninja that many times if they were that bad?

I rode Ninja and Boss that many times because my friend thought they were cool and he had not been down to the Park in a while. Plus with them in the fastlane system you could ride them and wait for other rides at the same time rather than just sit on our butts and wait.

After my recent trip to SFSTl after a 12 year hiatus, I don't plan on returning again.

As was said, the rideops were slow and unattentive, especially on Batman.

I went to get a drink from a foodstand, and the employee was just sitting there playing with a yo-yo instead of asking me what I wanted.

Other employee interactions were unpleasant but I won't go into detail.

I was disappointed with the park overall and it kind of sucks because 12 years ago I had a great time there.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

The Batman crew when I went was also very slow and stacked the train for at least a minute. If you are to go to this park, make sure it is on a weekday and early in the season. It can get very muggy there, resulting in very uncomfortable conditions.

Im not really all that impressed with Six Flags St. Louis. Its not a bad park in terms of its cleanliness, but its a lot smaller than Great America and the rides there arent all that great. Two of the coasters there give me the worst headaches off all time (ninja, the boss). It just seems like its lacking something, it needs a good b&m floorless or hypertwister like Raging Bull, but unfortuantly it doesnt. The only good thing is that it does have a free waterpark.

Doesn't SFGAM also have stacking problems and are very slow? Soemtimes I go in the station by us, and they are slow as molasses. Other times they are fine. Some employees are just a pain in the butt. You can't blame the whole park for them.

Did it sound like I was blaming the whole park? I agreed on the Batman crew. I love the park.
