Hi everyone, I'm back from my trip. I tried to use your help as much as I could. (See General Coaster Talk, "My Cedar Point Trip").
I left Saturday and went through Detroit. I saw my Tigers sadly lose to NYY. On Sunday, I went to the Henry Ford Museum.
Now I will get to the point of the topic. I stayed at the Best Budget Inn. It was one of about 15 hotels that one company owns. There was supposed to be three buses that took you to the park. One of the three drivers had apparently gone nuts. He had been seen driving all over Sandusky, and had been seen sleeping in the bus in a restaurant parking lot. Because of this, only two buses were operating. The bus was packed. I was one of the last people to get on. The family that came after me had to stand on the stairs! We got to the park at about 9:30. (The gates open at 9, and the rides start at 10.) They started running TTD 20 minutes early, so I got in line for that. I waited for about one hour, and it broke down . I waited about 45 minutes before it started again. I waited for about 20 more minutes to get to the station. I was next to ride, and it broke down again! They fixed it in about 10 minutes. So in the end, I waited over two hours. It was worth the wait. It was a really good ride. You go off fast. But it feels like you almost stop once you start going up the tower. After that, Corkscrew was almost a walk-on, so I went on that. It was pretty good. I got good airtime on the bunny hill. When that was finished, I figured that I should go over to Millennium. I waited for a little over an hour. It went so fast I really didn't get any airtime like on Raging Bull. It still was really fun. After that I waited around 5 minutes for Cedar Creek Mine Ride. I was just like the mine train I had gone on at SFOG. I waited about 20 minutes for Mean Streak. It was fun, but not as good as Viper or Eagle in my opinion. Then I rode Gemini. It was fun because the race stays closer for the reason that both trains have the inside track at some point. Not like AE where red is always inside. The only odd thing about it was that it wasn't actually wooden. The supports were, but the track was the same as Demon or Corkscrew. Because of this, it felt as if I were on a steel coaster. Then I rode Magnum. It was really fun, especially through those tunnels. After that I did power tower. I did the side where they shoot you up as opposed to going up slowly like Giant Drop. It gives tons of airtime at the top. More than Scream at SFNE. Then I did Wicked Twister. The wait was about 20 minutes. It was really just V2. It was fun to twist in the back though. When I got off Space Spiral was just loading, so I rode it. They only used the bottom level and it comes down as soon as it gets to the top. Not like Sky Treck where it spins for a few minutes. Then I did Disaster Transport. I got in there and I looked like none of the switchbacks were being used. Boy, was I wrong. You go through a tunnel to another room of switchbacks. I waited about a half hour for a half-minute ride. When I think the thing was just starting it stops and this guy says, "Welcome to Alaska! Exit left." Then I did Demon Drop. It had about a 5-minute wait. It was the same as Stuntman's Freefall at SFGAdv. After that I waited about 45 minutes for Raptor. I found it about the same as B:TR, but the ride was a little longer and had a few more inversions. Then I did Blue Streak. I would have been fun, but my seat belt was way too tight. I got no airtime at all and it pressed into my stomach every time it went over a hill. The Cedar Downs (the ride not the OTB out side the park) looked fun so I tried it with a one-ride wait. It was better than a normal Carousel. Then I did the Dodgem bumper cars and waited two rides. My car went backwards the whole time. It was not anywhere near as fun as our bumper cars at SFGAm. Then I did Wildcat. It was a nice starter coaster for kids. Then I did Iron Dragon. It had about at 10-minute wait. It was okay, but going through the misters made it even more fun. Then I did Mantis. It had about a 30-minute wait. It was better than IW, but not as good as the Scorcher at SFOG. It thought that by this time MF would have only a 45-minute wait. It was up to like an hour and a half. I didn't want to miss the bus to the hotel, so I decided to do Gemini and Magnum again then if TTD was running do that, or go back to MF to see if it had a shorter wait. I did the two and then TTD was running, so I got in line. I looked like I was about an hour wait. Well, after about a half hour, it broke down again. I stayed to about 20 after 11:00. Then I noticed that they had to unscrew the famous Intamin " won't fail unless the Earth loses its magnetic poles" breaks. I then thought that there would be no way that I could ride and make the bus. I went out to the parking lot and asked the guy who was sweeping where to pick up the hotel bus. He said by pet check. So I go there, and there is a courtesy bus phone. I ask if the hotel bus is going and the lady says that she only knows of the buses that go to the Cedar Point hotels. So I figure that I'm in the wrong place. I start walking to the front of the park again, and see that TTD is going again. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, I get to the front of the park and find a bunch of people form a campground and a guy staying at the Roadway Inn. Nobody realizes that every one is looking for the same bus until I piece it all together that we are all on the 15-hotel bus. I ask every one if the bus says "SanduskyHotels.com" on the side of the bus. Everyone says yes. The bus finally comes at 11:45 (it was supposed to come at 11:30). We rode it back to our hotels. The next day I went on this Ogontz boat ride. It used to be at Cedar Point, but now the guy who used to run it there, runs it by himself. He provided interesting information on the history of the park and at the end, he does this little show where he pretends that these cardboard cutouts of Indians are shooting us, and then he takes out a toy gun and pretends to shoot them back. After that we drove home. I was able to listen to part of the Tigers-Twins game on the radio before it faded out. Anyway, I had a good trip over all.
For the next trip report, spaces in between would be a little better.
Which mine train do you like better CP, or SFOG? I like mine trains a lot, and I'm wondering which one you like better. As I asked for SFMM (another topic), how would you rate the park compared to SFGAm?
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
I think that the mine train at SFOG was faster, but it was rougher. I like both the same.
As for CP compared to SFGAm, I will say they are about the same. Both parks have great rides. Why they may have some bigger ones, we have a better variety. I don't want this to become a "Which park is better" topic, so I will leave the issue here.
I rode CCMR when I went to CP in May. I rode the mine train when I was little kid at SFOG and it is definately better, especially the finish into this house/tunnel.
Reminds me of a funny time I had on CCMR. I was talking about how the only theming is like the station and the train house, which is sorta sad. The adult I was with said, they should have guys blowing blow torches in the train station. I just thought the mental image was hilarious.
I declare all mine trains underrated. The best themed one has to be WDW though. I do think that the mine shaft at SFOG is the best part of the ride. It's all great, but that part is the best. I liked SFStL mine train but I think it has a little weaker mine shaft. With SFOG, you are turning while going back up, and with SFStL you are just going up again.
Did you go on any other flats besides Stuntfall, (I guess that sounds like Giant Drop) space spiral, carousel, and bumper cars? What are some of the other ones that they have (Chance's Chaos they are supposed to have)? Please forgive me, I've never been there before.

The reason that Gemini didn't feel like a wooden coaster is because it is in fact a steel coaster. When it was built it was the world's tallest coaster. It just has wooden supports, basically the inverse of Villain. Glad you had a good time, looksl like I missed you by about 2 days.
