Greetings, Today was my first trip to Indiana Beach in nearly 12 years. And the day started out uneventful. Leaving Joliet at about 8:50 heading southwest to Indiana Beach.
Arriving at IB at arund 11:15AM i quickly head to Hoosier Hurricane. AWESOME RIDE. Tons of air-time on this great woodie.
Over to Cornball Express: Again the same as HH an awesome ride. Infact my Top five woodie list might be changing a bit after today
Over to Tig'er next which was a very fast ride with some pops of air time.
Met up with Dave,Tom and Scott and his daughter around noon. Spent most of the day with Scott and his daughter and had a lot of fun beating them both in air-hockey **booha!**
Around 130 id say there was a good soaking rain that lasted about 1.5 hours.
Lost Coaster was another ride that was off the hook awesome, i felt like i was in a car wreck getting tossed around so much. Awesome ride.
Infact Indiana Beach is a great little park. The atmosphere is awesome of an olden day Carnavial i really like IB and recommend visiting the park.
At 7:00 pm my trip was abruptly cancelled when a powerful line of Severe Weather headed into Monticello Indiana. Scott, myself and his daughter made a mad dash for our cars in near blinding wind driven rain.
In my attempt to return home, i encountered a Tornado approximately 1 mile ahead of my car on the US Rte 24 i beleive heading West to I-65. The sky turned pitch green and i wasnt really going to stick around to watch the action. So i U-Turned in the middle on Rte. 24 and floored it (110 mph in blinding rain and wind) Westbound taking shelter back in Monticello at a Super Wal-Mart store. I hate Wal-Mart, but you cant imagine how freaken glad i was to see that store following the encounter i just had.
Tonight was truely a night i never will forget as well at a Trip i wont forget either.
We usually take I-94 to 294 N(which merges into 90) then to Grand Avenue. It's a pretty basic trip. We take about an hour and 20 minutes to about an hour and a half. We go at a decent speed. It's a lot faster than taking all the side roads which takes nearly 2 hours.
Thanks Chitown, we'll try that some time. There is so many ways to get there from here. We usually go that way to visit family on the way there. It's on the way.
IB has a spectacular Chaos (though sometimes it will give a lackluster ride) and a rather good Alpine Bobs, both of which I will be riding Tomorrow, and actually looking at the clock, later today
