Six Flags St. Louis + Worlds of Fun

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Cole on July 26th, 2010, 7:26 pm
Hey all! A few weeks ago, I took a trip down to Missouri to visit the two parks SFSTl and WOF. Instead of making 2 threads I just mashed it in to one.

Six Flags St. Louis
This is a very beatiful park. It has a nice layout and some neat rides. Its one of the better parks ive visited.
Onto the rides.

Mr. Freeze (3 Rides)- All I can say is wow, what a cool coaster! The launch is decent, not the best ive been on. But the rest of the ride kicks ass! The top hat has some crazy hangtime on the way back, and looking straight up while on your back is cool. Great coaster, when can Great America get one of these? 9/10

Evil Kneival (2 Rides)- Coming in with high expectations for the ride, I was dissapointed. I see that its on everyones top woods list, but its not even top 5 for me. The bits of airtime were nice, but the rest put me to sleep. 7/10

Boss (1 Ride)- Ouch, this thing is rough! It has a weird layout but it works, if it were smoother it'd be a great ride. 4/10

THBS (2 Rides)- These Gerslaughter spinners are fun! Cool queue, intense, and good layout. I wouldnt mind one of these things in Iron Wolfs spot! 7/10

Screamin Eagle (1 Ride)- Great great airtime backseat. A little jerky, but a fun ride. 7/10

Mine Train (1 Ride)- One of the originals! Fun ride I guess, its getting pretty old though! 3/10

Ninja (1 Ride)- Ouch. This is a Vekoma nightmare. Lots of hurting. 1/10

Batman (2 Rides)- Its sad to say this may be the best in the park. We really take our BTR for granted! 8/10

Others-
Superman Tower of Power- 3
Excabilur- 1

Worlds of Fun

After all the bad things I've heard about this park, I was unsure about going, but am I glad we did! Better coasters then SFSTl and was a very nice little park. No lines all day. Everything was walk-on with 1 train operations.

Prowler (4 Rides)- Woah. This is a great ride. The quick turns are awesome, the airtime is great, and its very speedy. Awesome GCI, way better then EK. 9/10

Boomerang (2 Rides)- After hearing bad reviews of these clones, I admit, I loved this thing, the cobra roll wasnt to bad and the loop backwards was amazing! Very cool ride! 7/10

Mamba (2 Rides)- First Morgan Hyper for me. Backseat is the way to go! First drop and the first hill has great airtime, and then on the way back theres what... 6 bunny hops? Awesome coaster! 8.5/10

Timber Wolf (1 Ride)- Oww. basically no airtime and to many non banked turns. 3/10

Patriot (2 Rides)- Nice little B&M invert with some cool inversions. I like the BTR clones better though. 7.5/10

Spinning Dragons (1 Ride)- Just like THBS, fun, intense, cool. 7/10

Great 2 days at both parks, I had a great time!

P.S (I have pictures, if anyone wants me to upload them just comment)

With the exception of Mr. Freeze, I think my opinions of these two parks are exactly opposite of yours.

To each their own for sure, we must have had very different days at the park.

Oh no, I think SFStl is a GREAT park, but I think EK was way better than Prowler, I thought Boss kicked butt, and Ninja was fairly smooth.

Mamba and Prowler both bored me to tears, and Patriot was by far the best coaster at WoF. And yes, operations were beyond terrible. 1 train op all summer? No thanks.

Best advice for Vekomas, hang your head out of the restraints. For SLCs, your doomed, or you can but your hands between the restraints so that way it's not as hard a hit. haha

I think Boss and Ninja stink at SFStL. Though, I really like the mine train even though you don't.

"Batman (2 Rides)- Its sad to say this may be the best in the park. We really take our BTR for granted! 8/10" Maybe, you made a mistake but you give Mr. Freeze a 9/10, but say BTR is best ride at that park? I don't take our BTR for granted at all. That's my favorite ride at the park without Deja Vu being there anymore. For inverts - full circuit, I have also ridden Montu, SLC at Kentucky Kingdom, SLC that is now at Michigan's Adventure, More kiddie Vekoma invert that was at Cypress Gardens / Kings Island (These are pretty fun.) Raptor, Dueling Dragons (both sides), and Talon, and to me Batman the Ride is by far the best. Raptor would be second, and Dueling Dragons Ice third.

And for SFStL's Batman, personally I like it going the other way, and that one is I rate below great (like good) compared to the rest I have been on at Magic Mountain, Over Texas, Great America of course, and Over Georgia.

And Vekomas and hang / bang, I really don't have problems with any of them, and the hang and bang rides. For the SLC, I don't like them because I don't know what's going on the whole time because it just goes in every which way direction. The banging rides without the trick are definitely Iron Wolf, and Maverick. When Shockwave was around, I think once that ride really got to me too. I can't think of another ride in which it's bad with banging my head into the harness. X though is a ride in which you will bang your legs on the thing if you don't pick them up for most of the ride- at least for me.

I heard that the Las Vegas ride is a banging type of ride, but I never went on that ride. For little kids, and let's take the Demon for instance. That has a lower height requirement and when I go on that, I don't get banged in the head at all, but a little kid is smaller in height than me so they lower in the seat, and thus their head is going to be lower compared to a teenager or adult. So, they are going to feel it more than an older person because the harness is smaller at the bottom and bigger at the top.

Mamba is a great ride, Prowler sounds like fun. I was there when they had tshirts advertising it but haven't been down since to ride it.

^I think a lot of rides in which the crowds see first become a lot of GP's favorites. Man, I wish Superman was in the back, and American Eagle was in the front of the park, so I could get less lines on Superman. I know that wouldn't be a great idea for the park, and it's never going to happen, but dreaming is fun.

I rode The Boss back in its first year and loved it, haven't been back since though but it certainly seems the ride has taken a turn for the worse.

I wasn't a big fan of Boomerang at WoF, I liked Mamba a lot and liked Fury of the Nile. I wanted to go Patriot but never went over there.

I think fury of the nile is quite possibley the most boring raft ride ever created. The better ones ive been on were at SeaWorld San Diego, and Busch Gardens Tampa.

oh well, each to their own opinion. I didn't go on Spinning Dragons because it didn't look fun to me.

Well, i forgot to mention I had some extreme quad pain this trip. Rougher rides like Boss and Timber Wolf hurt like hell on some of the non-banked turns. Im not much of a coaster complainer but this trip was an exception.

I think that's why I skipped it, I heard it gives people really nasty bruises and muscle pains.

The Boss is a ride people love or hate. It was improved greatly for the 2009 season with a ton of track work.
