Opening Day 4/24/10

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Jackluver18 on April 24th, 2010, 9:51 pm
Left my house about 8:20 got up to the park around 9:00, it rained on the way up there and when I got to the park too. As soon as I met up with my friend and got on Bull it stopped raining and didn't rain at all. After Bull was Viper, try riding some of the coasters with your eyes closed, it's a rather neat experience. I don't know why it just feels cool. Next was Whizzer because it was closed when we got in the park due to rain of course. Then did Demon, after Demon we walked over to Eagle and walked past Magiquest, now I'm not starting an argument but I'm just going to pass on it. It does have a cool entrance, it looks better than it did before. But I didn't realize that they took all of the games out that were in front of Magiquest.

After looking at that for a bit, Eagle was next and we raced each other. Of course, Red side won, both times we went on it lol. Then I went on the one coaster I had never ever been on in the entire park...Spaceleys. Now I can say I have been on every coaster in the park. Then headed for V2, didn't have too bad of a line at V2 for front row, still no brake. Then after that we went on Batman front row not a long wait, then went on Big Easy Balloons before going on TDK which took like 5 min. After TDK was SUF row 4 as usual. Then headed back to Columbia and did Sky Trek again. Looked at SSA's former spot, looks very different without it. Next we did another lap and went with Whizzer again in the back row, only waited 10 minutes, then went to Viper and Bull again. Then did one more ride on Eagle red side back row before going to do 10 rerides on Demon. We had front row then switched between rows then that was that, I was done.
After Demon was STT in the heavy fog. You couldn't see the park at all because of the fog, it was crazy. Then we did two rounds of Batman, first front row then 2nd row to end the night. All in all it was a great day, not very crowded at all. The longest line was about a half hour, and Demon had an empty station around 5:15 for the rest of the night. It was great to be home that's for sure, can't wait for the next couple of months.

Ride totals
Bull-2
Viper-2

Eagle-2
Spacely's-1
V2-1
Batman-3

I was also there today--the place was nearly empty! I had a great visit, but there was one part that got me extremely angry: The Whizzer is now literally covered in advertising for the new Karate Kid movie. The station has a banner ad running across the railing, inside the queue the are several more ads, and worst of all, the Whizzer trains no longer say "Whizzer" on the front of each car! Instead they are covered with an orange banner that reads "Karate Kid". Six Flags has to tone down the advertising!

I wasn't to thrilled about Whizzer's ads either, it looked really bad. I was like seriously what is this?

I'm kind of shocked that no one has mentioned about the new light poles, and new concrete at the front of the park - by the entrance. To me, it looks okay. Was it needed? In my opinion, no it wasn't. Also, for Condor, yes the sign is gone, but to me it looks like the bird on top has blue LED on it. I couldn't see it that bright because it was kind of light out.

For the Bugs Bunny store, near the front of the park going toward Superman, it looks newly painted, and there are all the plastic characters in the balcony. For that Magiquest, not all the games have been taken out. The stand alone games are gone with the seats put in, and the games from the middle to the left side are gone, but there are still some games there - from the middle to the right side. I didn't count, but maybe 5 or 6 are still there.

They have put up some of those yellow canopy areas for meet and greet characters. For the Pictorium show, some people have seen it, and said it was more like a game show. They ask questions, and than show a video clip. They thought it was stupid.

Sorry for not going into full detail, Yeah the skill games that were in front of Wii are gone. There are still some on the sides like you mentioned. We did see Looney Tunes Dance off, it wasn't bad but it does need some work. Also I just edited my day because I forgot a few rides that we went on.

^No, it's okay. You don't have to go into full detail. I'm just shocked out of these trip reports no has mentioned the new concrete and lamp posts in the front of the park.

Yeah I know, I didn't think anyone really cared about the posts or concreate so that's why I didn't put it. Flags got repainted so it looks nice, where Magiquest is got painted that looks nice too. So it is nice that they decided to paint a few things.

I can't really understand the MagiQuest working at an amusement park. You are paying I don't know how much for a child's price, and than you add some $20 more for that. Why wouldn't people just go Yorktown for that, or somewhere else? It just seems like people are spending more money when their is so much to do already. It doesn't bother me it's there, but to me it seems stupid for a kid to spend the money on that and TIME when their is so much to do already.

If Six Flags had Miniature Golf, and I didn't go to the park a lot, I wouldn't go play it even though I do like Miniature Golf quite a bit because I know it's going to take a hour to play, and I'm spending more money for it. Now, even if it was free, I probably still wouldn't play unless I went to the park for 3 days straight (Not having a season pass let's say) because their is just too much to do in the park. If I have a season pass, and miniature golf was at the park, I probably would play determining if it is good enough, and the price also.

For Busch Gardens, I didn't spend much time looking at the animals because I have two zoos by me, and I can dedicate zoo time over here. Now, sure I went on the ride that contains animals - Rhino Rally, but I'm talking about staring at the animals like the elephants for minutes at a time, and thought forget that. I rather go to my local zoo. For the Busch Garden people, sure their might have been some local people that are like, this is our zoo, and we are going to really interact with the animals. Also, though for them, maybe they don't like to reride, and their isn't that many rides at that park either, so they have time left over to look at animals.

Yeah I was looking at the prices for it and was like seriously you have got to be kidding me? The prices for like the Epic package were 42.99, I was like what in the world? So I'm just gonna pass on it, I'm not going to spend all my money on it.
