Whatever you do, don't go the day before the 4th of July. It all started out with 4 buses taking us to the park because there was so many freaking people. Once arriving at the park at 10:30, we got there and they were lined up out to the traffic light. I went to go get my all day locker and by the time I was done with that, it was nearly 11 so I went back towards Hometown and went on my first coaster of almost every time I go....Whizzer which had a 45 minute wait for front row. Still one of my favorite rides. After Whizzer was Demon red train back row, yellow wasn't out just yet. After Demon, I went and had lunch before walking over to Bull. As I approached the ramp to go up the exit, the line under AE was terribly backed up. They were just coming in herds, there were so many cars and it wasn't even 12:30 yet. I got on Bull front row teal train, still a great ride very smooth up front. Next was Viper, Viper in my opinion has gotten so so rough around the turns, I got tossed around a few times and the screeching is bad too.
And then after Viper, I went back to Whizzer before going to watch the day parade and Show Stoppin 09. Then I went to the waterpark for a few hours where it too was crowded, I only went on Wahoo and hung out in Skull Island because of how crowded it was. Then I decided to head to Dark Knight, the pipes were working but no mist. After Dark Knight, it was Batman, Eagle, Demon (4 more rides not rerides though) and Bull and Viper, with V2 to end the night. From what I saw, the longest line was Bull which was about 1 hour to an hour and a half. V2's line was quite long too from where I was standing. All and all it was a good day, no rain slight temp go to 82 and then dropped again and the crowds. I know for sure that I won't be going on the day before the 4th of July again because it was just crazy how many people there were.
Not sure when you left but I can add some. The Crowds were awful and they have the "please visit another day" graphic on the billboard.
I only went for an hour today and it was just weird. We got there at 9 PM (we like to go near close) and the parking attendees told us the parks was closed. So we took the back entrance (under American Eagle) and the same guy let us it.
I was amazed to see the ques at this point were already closed for Superman, Batman, Ragin Cajun and King Chaos (ride was closed.) Even more amazing was seeing a 4-5 cycle que line for Jester's Wild ride. We got 4 rides on American Eagle as the park, at least American Eagle, stayed open until 10:30. Not a bad night considering I only went there for a ride on Batman.
^ I left at 10, I was surprised at how crowded the park was as soon as the sun started setting. It was very very crowded that you could hardly walk on the midways not to mention there were a few people just standing there talking and you couldn't get around them because there were so many people going in both directions.
4th of July has to be a bad day to visit, and the reason why you get crowds on Friday is because tons of people are off July 3rd. Also, you have people staying for multiple days. I was going to go that day, but something else came up. Thankfully, I didn't go. Another reason for bigger crowds is because people look at 70% chance of rain for the next day, and think hey let's go the day before the big rain.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Yeah it was a bad day to go crowd wise, I mean yeah it was nice weather but I couldn't go today or tomorrow because I had plans for today and tomorrow so Friday was the day I could go also because I missed last weekend to me being sick, like I said all in all it was a good day just not with the crowds
I think I'm going to the park next Sunday (7/12). I hope that the crowds aren't as bad. Aren't Sundays generally good days to go to the park? I wonder if not as many people will go next weekend because so many people were there this weekend.
^ Might not be too bad of a day to go. This weekend, the 7th and the 9th will be packed. The 7th is the Raven concert and the 9th is the World Record attempt for the shower plus I think a bring a friend free or 1/2 day.
Going tomorrow. Nice weather and crowds are going to be big but I don't care. Unless something comes over me I will get a flash pass. DOn't know when my next trip will be so that's why. My mom, brother, his fiance & their son will be at Gurnee Mills and I at Six Flags. Want to get lots of rides in so we will see. If no flash pass maybe I'll try Dare Devil Dive like in 2008 and just save $20 that way. Don't know when I will get there maybe between 10-11 A.M. Have my pass for the season ready to go and I am actually calling in sick for work tomorrow! Hey, I worked 4th of July.
I took the whole family today. Usually, I just go once a week in the evening with my almost 5 year old son (He loves riding the Whizzer and Dark Knight over and over). It was very crowded today, so we bought a four person Gold Flash Pass. Very much worth the investment as we rode Whizzer about 10 times, Loggers Run about 10 times, Raging Bull twice, Dark Knight about 5 times, Superman, Roaring Rapids about 7 times, Giant Drop, and Buccaneer Battle a few times. Kids had a blast and the Mrs. and I had lots of fun too!
