Over the weekend, my family and I had a two-day trip to Mt. Olympus Water and Theme Park. This report will be brief, since there isn't mush to say...
First of all- Important tips: Do NOT speed at all, not even 5 MPH over, when going to the Dells. Not even if you going with the flow, in the middle of a cluster. That mistake will cost you $250.
Okay, so when we arrive, we go to our resort, Hotel Rome, or the old Treasure Island Resort. The rooms are very nice, and it's very nice, with the arcade and bar near the lobby, themed rooms, etc. I have explored the place, and its very large because of the Captain's Quarters, which half of it is being renovated or remodeled. The only downside with the hotel is the location of the fitness room. After finding it, you won't want to work out, especially if you're room is near the lobby.
To our surprise, the Theme Park, Zeus's Playground, was opened. We were prepared to stick around at the waterpark, and the indoor theme park, but when we passed by the Zeus was running. When we checked in, the lady told us that Zeus, Trojan Horse go-carts, Hermes Turbo Track, and a kiddy track were open, and they were free to ride for guests. First thing we do is head toward Zeus. It was a walk on. I was surprised. It was sunny and the temperature was around 60. I go on it a few times. The ride is very rough, and you can tell the difference between a Six Flags coaster and a family-owned coaster. I love how Zeus is rough, and the air time is crazy on that ride. Hades and Cyclops remained closed the whole stay, and I didn't even see the trains in the stations. I wonder how they take them off.... There doesn't seem to be a lot of clearance with the cluster of coasters. After Zeus, I went on the Trojan track, and that track is very crazy and fast. I love their go carts.
Next, we headed to the indoor theme park. We went on Opa, which is an exact model of Ragin Cajun. We waited five minutes to get on. We went so many times, and I basically have an evaluation on every cart. First of all, DO NOT GO ON GREEN CART 1. That one make a terrible noise at the turns, unlike the others. It sounds like a part is hitting the track. Maybe I was over-reacting, but then I noticed that the car wouldn't even spin, because the spin mechanism wouldn't even engage. Yellow Car 6 has the best spin. The indoor park also has an arcade and laser tag.
Lastly, the go-carts indoor sit where the former disk ride used to be. I wish they could have kept the ride, as the go-carts only go in a circle. During the wait in line, we had a situation of line jumping. The worst thing is that these people simply waled in front of us. They were two little kids, so at first I didn't say anything, since they weren't even tall enough to get on the ride, but the all of a sudden, about 7 more come to meet those little kids, and don't take any notice of us. A man behind us tells the two oldest girls that what they did was rude. They ignore the man and went on the ride. Before they got on, the operator told them that some of the kids were too short to ride. The kids said that they were old enough, and tough enough. The operator ended up letting them ride! Next, the man behind us decided to tell the foreign operator the situation of line jumping, and ended up talking to the supervisor. The supervisor ended the ride, and talked to the kids. And that's that. They weren't kicked out, nothing. They just went back in line. Later, when I was in line for Opa, they line jumped people behind us. Terrible people.
One thing that I noticed at this park is that you need common sense to survive. It is SO easy to get on or near a track. There are no fences blocking off the track at some points, and going back to the decapitation stories of Six Flags, I hope none of those idiots attend this park. Also, the employees are put themselves in a dangerous environment. For example, the Operators of Opa! stand on the track, in front of the car, to check the lap bars. What's even worse about that is that the start button is accessible to the people in front of the line. Then with the go carts, I've seen employees' feet getting stuck between a rail and a cart. And I've also seen them retrieve items from underneath the cars, while the car is running with a person inside of them. I would never trust anyone because you never know when they might just "accidentally" hit the gas.
Indoor waterpark- Nothing to talk about. Nothing special. Small, long lines. 2/10
Outdoor waterpark- Closed. If open, it looks amazing. 37 slides! --/10
Indoor Themepark- Fun. No lines. Need more thrills. 6/10
Outdoor Themepark- Most things closed, but that was expected, since it's still their off season. 8/10 (if all was open it might be higher, since I haven't been on their best thrills)
Safety- 5/10
Overall- Do not come here in the winter, go to Kalahari. You'll be disappointed. I highly recommend coming in the summer when everything is open, then I'd chose it over Kalahri. Luckily it wasn't that bad since they had Zeus running and some go-cart tracks.
