IX in Cleavland. Its basically a large or huge indoor fairground or carnival, whatever. Its just really bright and cool lookin.
Well due to some new ohio codes or some bull, by law no "portable coasters can operate anymore. Passed march 12. So this meant no spinning wild mouse, sad. I was bummed...i miss cajun. However, they had a wacky worm and two "dragon wagons" operating so i dont really understand what this new law means. again, whatevs.
We get there around 2pm and ride the wacky worm first... pretty funky lil thing. I feel if they didnt look so "portable", you could sup 'em up to look somewhat decent. It was great for the really little ones, you could tell they love that one and only drop. Its pretty fun in the back. haha...
The park has as i said, a wacky worm, 2dragon wagons, a mini frisbee(that kicked *$$, and a great freefall tower. The rest was a crapload of circulars. Which made the day VERY interesting.
We rode everything..and there was a certain attraction there I have never been on before...the ZIPPER. well my roommate Greg took me on it to show me how its done...thought it was so fun, we should give it another whirl. The 2nd trip was one big spin. I dont think it ever stopped...greg spin the #$&@ out of it. I kept sayin ok ok ok...i got this. He asked of i was gonna puke, i said no, and continued laughin my booty off. I got off and my BF asked if i was ok, i slid down the rail and sat down completely unaware of what was goin on...haha. They said i looked as white as ghost. So next up was Pharoahs fury, I felt fine. Yet I decided to sit that one out to hold everyones coasts. of course Greg thought itd be a good idea to scream "JiMMY GET UP HER AND RIDE WITH ME!" cause i guess he didnt wanna ride alone...aw. haha. no.
Ive been on these a million times, but today was a first. The ride swung up and down. I closed my eyes, took in all the air rushing at my face and felt so calm and relaxed. Then Bam! I was gonna throw up...i locked eyes with the ride host and no joke, its as if he knew. The ride stopped so quick everyone went whoa! I jumped out of the ride, pushed my way down the exit ramp and BLUUH! right into the trash can. NEVER have I EVER thrown up on any ride before. It was amazing, disturbing, and well...nasty. haha
so oddly enough, i found myself riding the drop tower over and over cause it was the only thing that didnt spin and somehow relaxed me. I kept riding everything regardless, but had to keep makin trips to the drop tower or a bench. haha.
At the end of the night we rode the ferris wheel, which goes "outside". they made the roof taller for the attraction, with the ceiling made of glass so you could see the city around you. well this also made me sick as hell and i had to lie down on my bfs lap to prevent another vomit trip.
We left, went to mcdonalds and truly ended the night with me throwin up once more. Wow. So no joke, my friends have knex models of a zipper ansd ferris wheel, and I got nauseous just from lookin at them! that my friends, is sad. haha
Yay! IX indoor amusement park, where vomit inducing rides are the pleasure. I still had lots of fun though.

I call BS on that. Seems like a very stupid law. And if by some chance, such a law actually has been passed, then that would put Cedar Point's WildCat in grave danger
the IX indoor Amusement Park does State that, due to a new law, now portable coasters are aloud, however I cant find any info on the Ban, I really do not think the amusement park would lie to the public, This bill could either mean, Effective the signing of the bill, NO NEW Portable Coasters can be built or operated, but CURRENT coasters can operate. Or that ALL current and NEW Portables are cancelled!
I do not know if they would go as far as banning current, but its possible. They could just put very strict guidelines and say all new are banned, and current must pass a really strict new inspection
That's not right that they can't have portable coasters. That makes no sense just because they are portable.
For carnival rides, you must eat food in order to not throw up. Yes, it's sounds really strange to say this, but in my opinion I believe it. You are starving, and you are more likely to throw up because carnival rides take a lot out of you. Eat just enough food, and I'm not saying to go to a buffet, and eat before. Wait enough time, and than ride the rides.
For Great America, seriously I don't usually eat till the afternoon for the most part, and the rides don't make me throw up. Again, at a carnival it's much difference because they are so intense, and your body moves all over the place. Regarding rides, I threw up once, and every year I go to amusement parks (Of course, I go Great America a lot.), and I go to multiple carnivals (I might say about 8 or so a year.) even though it's not as much as Great America because of expenses (Going to multiple carnivals on multiple days at some are much more money than a season pass to Great America).
Roller coasters for the most part are on the wimpy side compared to a lot of carnival rides. Don't get me wrong though. Roller coasters are awesomely fun, but they aren't as intense as the Zipper, a really great spinning Tilt-A-Whirl, Orbiter, Power Surge, Spider, KMG Afterburner, Sizzler, and so on.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
As SFaddiction84 says above, the park does state the following
EFFECTIVE MARCH 27, 2009 – NO SPINNING COASTER!
Due to recent changes in the State of Ohio Ride Safety code (passed on Thursday, March 12, 2009) there are currently no portable coasters, including the Spinning Coaster, that comply with the new safety rules. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Well, I got an answer today on the "new rule = no coaster" thing.
Apparently the "new rule" adopted by the State of Ohio contains the exact wording of ASTM F 2291-09:11.4-11.5.4.1(1). While the language quoted looks like it comes out of 2291-09, i looked it over this morning and concluded that this has been a part of the ride design standard since at least 2005 (the earliest copy I have) and as I noted earlier, any ride that has run in the People's Republic of New Jersey should already meet these requirements.
The specific requirements, translated from ASTMese into plain English:
11.4. If the manufacturer has defined safety parameters for ride operation, the ride control system limits the ride performance to those parameters.
11.5. The ride may have more than one operating mode (i.e. "automatic" or "manual"). The mode selection will be indicated to the operator, and will not be easy to change accidentally. Changing modes won't initiate operation, and switching to manual mode won't disable the safety system. If a part of the safety system has to be overridden, some additional safety will prevent the automatic system from operating.
Essentially it says you'll have a block system, the block system will function at all times, and you can't accidentally do bad things to the ride. Hardly a show stopper in my book unless the portable ride in question is a truly dangerous piece of hardware that should only be running one train.
