DLR

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby BP317 on January 10th, 2009, 11:43 pm
Pics from the Disneyland Resort.

Image
This is one of the new "Mark VII" monorail trains.

Image
DLR has the worlds largest parking garage.

Image
Taking the escelator down to the trams.

Image
Think ill go to Disneyland tonight.

Image

Image
The "new" Space Mountain (okay not so new, but definitley not old) is really trippy. The onboard audio is awesome, the visual effects are amazing but after the lift the stars are really trippy. Have to ride it to understand. Similar to what they did with Pirates of the Carribean more recently, the visual effects are top notch to todays standards.

Image
Nemo is like the Toy Story Mania of Disneyland Park, no matter how the crowds are in the park its pretty much guarenteed to have a huge line.

Image
I reccomend the Tomorrowland side of Matterhorn.

Image

Image
Rodger Rabbits Cartoon Spin is a really strange dark ride in Toontown.

Image

Image
King Arthurs Carousel with the Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Image
The only ride I know of where you die and go to hell!

Image
There is a lesson to be learned from Mr Toads Wild Ride. If you are a crazy driver you will crash and go to hell.
In case your wondering Mr Toad is a charector from the book Alices Adventures in Wonderland (or more popular by its movie name Alice in Wonderland).

Image

Image
You get liquored up also.

Image
GUILTY!

Image
And then you burn in hell.

Did the new Castle Walkthrough.

Image
Which consists of a series of widows with weird effects and storybook of Sleeping Beauty as this is the Sleeping Beauty castle.

Corridor of Goons?

The Tomorrowland Toy Story shooting dark ride is greatly overshadowed by the DCA Toy Story dark ride, but still is really fun. The animitronic figure in DCA's Toy Story dark ride also greatly overshadows the animitronic in Tomorrowland's Toy Story dark ride, but both are very impressive. Kindve ironic how that works out?

Buzz queue line

Image
Buzz loading area.

Image

Image
This photo is taken from the queue line, not the midway. For some reason in pics it always looks like its taken from the midway. First you enter on from Tomorrowland and the queue is a ramp that extends over a resturaunt, then you get to the queue house where this pic was taken.

Image
Matterhorn and Astro Orbiter

Image
Me in line for Space Mountain.

Image

Image
It may be January after the holidays, but Disneyland still gets pretty good crowds.

Image
The section of queue thats over the loading platform.

Image

Image
2 trains are loaded at a time and the restraints are checked after the train is dispatched out of the station to make it faster.

Image
Space Mountain re-opened in 2005

...in case you were wondering where SFGAm got their Firehouse idea from. The room on top was Walts apartment, and they keep the light on all the time.

Switch parks.

Image
Hollywood Pictures Backlot, home to one of the parks most popular attractions Tower of Terror.

Image
Condor Flats is home to DCA's most popular attraction.

Image
...Soarin' Over California of course.

Image
Didnt want to wait 20 minutes.

Image
So decided to walk on instead.

Image

Image

Image
The Grand Californian Resort has its own entrance to DCA here.

Image

Image
Grizzly Peaks main attraction, Grizzly River Run.

Image

Image
Yes, this park is built around a Rapids ride. And yes, people are riding it in January.

Image
Paradise Pier is getting the majority of the big DCA refurbishment right now as you can see from these construction walls.

Image
The Golden Zephyr is based off of the rocket ship ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It doesnt operate in winds very well.

Image
A Mack Mouse coaster themed to California Traffic.

Image
Soon to be rethemed.

Image

Image

Image
Another ride to be re-themed soon.

Image

Image
The Ferris Wheel in the meantime already is being rethemed (though more of new color & logo than retheme).

Image

Image
Toy Story Midway Mania line.

Image

Image
Drained lagoon.

California Screamin is a steel Intamin coaster thats designed to look like a traditional wooden coaster at a California pier park, and it has an inversion.

Image
The trains are designed to look like Morgan wooden coaster trains like you'd find at Belmont Park.

Image
I used the single riders line which consists of walking through the exit path, to the back of the station, take an elevator up, walk next to the queue path to get to the other side of the station, then take an elevator back down to where your grouped with standby riders.

Image
It looks funky without the water in the lagoon.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image
This is where you watch them make Tortillas then get a free one.

Image
To the left is the parks upscale Italian resturaunt, to the right is the Blue Sky Cellar where they have the park upgrade plans on display.

Image

Image

Image

Image
This area in the front of the park theres a giant sundial thats not used now because it was reflecting light onto the midway into peoples faces. For some reason I dont have a pic of it, but heres a pic of the waterfall in front of it.

Image

Image
Monsters Inc and Muppets are in here.

That's actually one of my favorite parts about the single rider! It's like an extra ride!

Also, I think Mr. Toad is from Wind in the Willows, or in Disney's case The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.

Disneyland is a great place to be. Glad you can finally be That Guy in a much warmer and awesomer climate.

Whoops your right, Mr Toad not to be confused with the Alice in Wonderland ride in close proximity to it.

I am so glad I got on Toy Story Mania during Cast Member Previews! Nothing better than a zero minute wait :D

What did you think of their ToT?
http://themeparkcritic.com/scripts/profile/ViewProfile.asp?ViewID=2909
A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!
