Columbus Day (10/14/08)

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby [jonrev] on October 14th, 2008, 12:55 am
Got up early on a day-off from school for once and decided to hit the park for the day.

On the way there I noticed the "landmark" Grand Tri-State Business Park sign was gone. Seems like everyone in Gurnee is changing signage. Gurnee Mills did theirs a few years back, Great America replaced the "Giant T" for 2007, and now this one's gone.

OK I'm done babbling, time for some breakfast:

Random bird likes Cheese Roll-Ups
Image

I hate driving on the Grand/I-94 overpass with the construction barriers up. The Fiero has such a low roofline that it feels like driving fast through a narrow tunnel.
Image

They toned the fog down. Boo...
Image

You can hear this guy babbling all the way from the Nostalgia McDonalds
Image

Wandered around "Random 51" for a few minutes:

Random UFO crash.
Image

Random theming... like some kid on RCT2 plopped them there
Image

Hello again old friend, randomly placed in the walkway
Image

Time to ride something...
Image

Ooo scary
Image

Terror Twister is by-far running the best it has been in years. The strobe light is way better synced than last year
Image

"Line jump... I dare you."
Image

Demon stuck on blocks... hmm...
Image

Decided to see Susan Rosen for the first time in 2 years. Small crowd so she didn't make anyone do fun stuff on stage.:(
Image

Demon still stuck on blocks... what the hell?
Image

OMG THEY DUG MOAR OUT!
Image

On a side note...
When you can't afford awesomeness...
Image
...you build it:
Image

Anywho...

Crap.
Image

Eagle stands out more now that the green pile of crap is gone... *cough*Splashwater Falls*cough*
Image

Revz' cool Fright Fest sign

Revz going fast
Image

What happens to stupid people jumping fences at Six Flags
Image

Rawr...
Image

Necropolis. More on that later.
Image

Monster Mash didn't have any line
Image

So that's where all the blood in the King Chaos' pool comes from, the idiot bees that drown in it
Image

Colorful...
Image

...and we're back
Image

CoasterDude Car!
Image

"CONSTIPATED!!"
Image

Yummy...
Image

No more twigs tied together!
Image

Kuh-KAW!!
Image

Camera battery died so it was time for a Coke break:

Random scaracters wandering around Southwest Scare-tory

Time for another round of Terror Twister

I'm Ignoring You...

Riccochet was running great today.

I'm tired and it's late. No rotate for you.

SHOCKWAVE!!!1!!

What a wonderful couple...

Larry watches over King Chaos
Image

Had to ride the new "Holding Brake-Free" V2...
Image
Image

It, for whatever reason, got stopped on the launch track a few cycles before me but got going again very shortly
Image

ShockWave stairs?
Image

THANK YOU!!!
Image

Ran out of memory card so I grabbed the other one in the Fiero...

Random Columbia shot
Image

I like the new cityscape but miss the B&M gag on the other wall.
Image

For once the tunnel looks like it did years ago
Image

"HIT AND RUN!!"
Image

Weren't they having trouble getting a new net for this back in 2006? Guess they gave up.
Image
Image

This looks like it's going too. Sad, I loved that huge climb thing when I was a kid.
Image

Made a run to Eagle for the end of the night
Image

Ended up being the last rider of the day.
Image

Cool... closed... but cool.

THE EDN

On the way out I encountered some rude security guards. When I asked where to go to get to the Washington St. exit they gave me a weird look, one of them looked at me saying "C'mon... please." The other one said go see the security guard at the other end (towards Grand), which wasn't there.

Rather than get into a war hellride with a security guard about getting to Washington, I decided to take the long way. Of course it was backed up due to what looked like a nasty wreck. It looked like there were 2 ambulances, a few squad cars, and a fire truck on the scene. Can anyone else fill me in on that?
Somewhere in Florida a village is missing its idiot. He can be found in Washington D.C.

Not quite sure what's going on with BBNP. Last year I was told they were having problems getting a new net for the Scenic Overlook (the play structure) so my only guess is they're giving up and doing something different with it.

We drove by the wreck and it was just a 3 car fender bender. Nothing too bad and everyone looked ok.

Not terrible but no walk-ons on anything until sometime after 4.
