5/14/08 - So Glad I Went!

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby DejaVuGurl1203 on May 14th, 2008, 10:03 pm
We left my house at about 7:50, stopped for gas, and headed to the park. It took about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to the park, since there was heavy traffic for 18 miles. So at 9:50 we got into the park and waited behind the chain. At 10, we ran most of the way to Batman. We got first dispatch front row. Amazing ride! We went to the second to last row to re-ride. Awesome ride again... And we came to the brakes before the station, and we waited... and waited... The guys behind us started yelling, asking if the ride was stuck, they wanted to get off the ride, and overall they were just being extremely funny. We were stuck on the brakes, well, it was really the train in the station that wouldn't go. The guys behind us were great entertainment while we waited. We had to unload right there, so after about 25 minutes, we unloaded and walked into the station where we got ride passes. SWEET! That was kinda cool.

Next... we waited in the short line for Cajun. We didn't spin as much as I like, but it was still fun. Then we went on King Chaos. We flipped once, then did half of a flip and were upside down for a few seconds, haha. We went to get in line for SUF, but decided not to wait for it cause the line was almost to the switchbacks. We went on Condor instead.

Next, we rode Whizzer in front row. It was just a one train wait. Then we rode Viper in 1:3, and Bull in the back row. Bull was about a 10-15 minute wait, and a great ride. Giant Drop was up next, which we got on almost right away. It seemed like forever since I was last on the ride, so at the top I felt very nervous for some reason lol. Next, we got in line for Eagle red, about a 10-15 minute wait and we went in the front row. I really enjoy the front row on Eagle, it has such a nice view and it's just a great ride. A few questions I have though, I'll ask them at the end of my TR.

We went back to the car to relax a bit and get my coupon book. We bought one funnel cake and got one free. Both of us honestly wished we had gotten something else to eat. I couldn't even finish mine. So next we went over to SUF, cause I wanted to ride it. The line was the same as earlier. I was messing with my camera and taking a couple of pics, and I was starting to wonder why it was taking so long to send the train... I then realized there was only one train running. AH! Wasted 10 minutes of my life, lol. We left and went over to ride BTR. Got on in the back, but for some reason this ride wasn't as exciting as earlier this morning. I dunno, I was probably just tired. We then went on V2, which we were able to walk right on to the back row since people let us ahead of them. After that we rode BTR again and then Whirligig.

It was getting close to the time for us to leave, which we were planning on leaving at 4 since I had a choir concert at 7. We went on Whizzer again, this time in the back. Next was Orbit. You know when the ride is about to end, and it comes down to the ground, right after you hear that sort of "bang" the ride sort of shakes in a way? And when you're on it it might sort of hurt? Does this make any sense? Lol. Anyway, it didn't shake at all, and it was good. Sometimes I'd hit my head on one of the bars when that happens, but not this time.

Next was Viper again, in row 3 again. And then our last ride, Raging Bull of course. I wanted to go in the front since it was really sunny and the ride looked beautiful. So we waited for the front. It was about 20 minutes wait from the time we got in line. It was awesome. I just absolutely love Bull's new paint, and the amazing view from the front row. It was about 7 after 4 when we got off, so we had to rush out, after going to the candy store and the rest room. We finally drove away at 4:30, and we were lucky enough to not have too much traffic, since I had to be there at 6:15-6:30.

So it was a really good day! Mostly school groups, actually doing assignments and stuff. I was laughing at them because I didn't even have to go to school today, and I wasn't there for school either. Lots of buses, not a lot of cars. The crowds were perfect. Not too crowded and not too empty, in my opinion, anyway. We never waited more than 20 minutes. I wore too many clothes, I was so hot by the middle of the day. I changed later on though, whew. I personally thought the temperature was near-perfect.

Bull - 2
BTR - 4
Viper - 2
V2 - 1
Whizzer - 2
AER - 1
Whirligig - 1
Condor - 1
Orbit - 1
GD - 1
Cajun - 1
King Chaos - 1
Total - 18

A few questions/comments.
1. Has Whizzer always had horrible whiplash at the brakes at the end of the ride? I don't know, today the first time we were on it, I was in my boyfriend's lap and when we got to the brakes I was just totally thrown forward and it really hurt my stomach, the seatbelt anyway. The second time we rode it, the same thing happened, and my boyfriend was in my lap that time, lol. It hurt him too and neither of us remember it EVER being like that. It just stopped us so suddenly.
2. Why is the Capacity for AER and AEB different? AER is 610, and AEB is 370. My boyfriend was wondering. I felt like I had the answer, but I couldn't put it into words cause I didn't really know.
3. If a ride was unsafe, they wouldn't be running it, right? Is Eagle unsafe? What about that part when you start going up the lift, and if you're in the front car, the left side of the car sort of "jumps" up about three times? I'm not sure if other cars do the same thing or not, I always seem to go in the front these days. My boyfriend hates riding Eagle because he thinks it's unsafe. I'm trying to tell him that it's safe, but... lol.

Next Visit... SATURDAY! Ah, it's a busy week. SFGAm 3 times in one week, wow. And Prom is on Friday.

Great TR! I'm excited to head out to the park for my first visit last week in May. Anyways, For your third question about Eagle's pop up on the lift. I have experience that before as well but, luckily there is either wheels or a metal bar that rests on the bottom of the trains just as in a regular steel coaster. The only thing is that there is enough room between the wood and those bottom wheels to make the coaster train 'pop up'. There is a bottom piece whether it is a set of wheels or a piece of steel to allow the coaster to stay on track. Eagle is safe!

Do they have both trains running on AEB yet? If not, the 370 might be the theoretical capacity goal per hour with one train, while AER has both trains so it's 710 pph...other than that, I would have no idea why the difference.

They definitely did something to the brakes on Whizzer. The stop has never been that bad. Now its as bad, if not worse than Viper's stop.

AEB was not running, but both trains were definitely on the track. I wish I could convince my boyfriend that Eagle was safe. I think he enjoys it since he actually does go on it, but he complains if I want to ride it and says it's not safe, lol.

I'd say Whizzer's stop is definitely worse than Viper's now. Viper's is actually a little better than before.

Yeah, I was ridding it last weekend and I had my hands up, trying to grab leaves, and then the brakes stopped and I hurt my back from flying forward.

I know last Saturday (5/10) AEB was only running one train. The other was on the trasfer track with the water dummy's in it.

So, as others have said, that is why the Capacity for AER and AEB are different. Once both trains on both sides are running, then the Capacity should be the same for both sides.
