Opening Day with Pictures

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Aaron084 on April 27th, 2008, 11:39 am
We left a little after 7am from Appleton, WI and got to the park around 9:40ish. Upon entering parking, we followed the signs to the left lanes for "normal parking" as we wanted to upgrade to a season pass. A parking security guard repeatedly tried to get us to switch to the right lane, which was a shorter line. She was pretty impatient and adamant about getting us to move. We never did, because we wanted to follow the new signage. After paying $25 for parking, everyone funneled into a security guard who checked your receipt, and put you in the proper lot. If this is what it's going to be like all summer, it's going to take hours upon hours for people to park. We first went to Raging Bull, closed, so we did Viper instead. We then tried Whizzer, closed, Superman, closed, but then got on Cajin and Batman.

Iron Wolf still wasn't open yet, and neither was Eagle but we waited in line until shortly after 11 when it opened. We then got a quick ride on Demon, went to STT, which was closed, and then decided to wait inside at Guest Relations to process my parking pass. We waited over 40 minutes in what we thought was a short line to do this. The staff was friendly, but way unprepared, they were sharing computers, asking each other to log in for them, and a lot of them seemed clueless. We left the park for lunch and came back later to get on all the open rides again, including Superman which opened in the late afternoon. Overall not too bad of a day, but it definitely could have been better.

And a few pictures and comments…

Come on now, it's not that windy.

Image
New advertising in the form of a large, ugly, storage container. Nothing says Mari Gras like a shipping container!

Image
At least this area is cleaned up and is presentable to the public. They should have the storage container advertising over here...

Image
New paint looks awesome!

Image
At least I got to wait inside and lean against a wall for 40 minutes.

Image
Wow, that's a big ugly building. It'll look a lot better once the trees fill in.

Image
The lockers... Provided much entertainment seeing people get mad that they can't take their stuff on the ride. They seemed to be working great though, Superman was running great for the few hours it was open. Quite a few trains were leaving the station just as the other train was hitting the first station brakes.

Show Stoppin' starts June 30th. Until then, we get a whole month of award show reruns. From what I've seen on the que tvs, the award show reruns look awful. Not even worthy of a late night Time Life Series infomercial.

While the box is hideous in Mardi Gras, it does look a lot like the crap homes the government are building down there now... :o

Great pictures though!

Great photo's!!!!

I also forsee alot of problems with people being confused about where to park there car and this causing problems. It would be nice if they had a season parking pass entrance to we could avoid the problems that will result

I did read that they had to close the rides due to manufacture specs, and I fully understand why and agree with it. It still looks funny though!

At SFGAdv they have season parking pass line this year because having 10 lanes to use :!:
Here at SFGAm has 8 lane and 2 in the back entrance via Washington RD.
MY Guest is this setup
Far Right lane -Bus/ RV Lane (wider/no Clearance Problems)
Next 3 lanes right of center- value lot ($15)
Next is 3 lanes Left of center is Regular Parking($25) plus Season Pass Parking And Handicap
Last Far left lane is for Counter flow Traffic for Value Lot for exiting and for security to get by!
Is that correct or not :?:
 Just thinking Season Parking pass-holders should enter through the employee entrance. Waved by security or get decictions to drive up the service rd. into parking lot by Superman  Then use this route as speedy exit :!: Yes, some repaving and signs are needed but Stoplights are put in now for improve traffic flow. It is designated as a road -Greart America on Maps :!: All this road construction in the area. Other routes in and out of the park is needed. Attendance is going back up the past year.
Party all Night, Sleep all DAY!!!
