Last minute credit whoring trip.......

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Iggy ACE on September 9th, 2007, 10:27 pm
Well the weather looked good and I picked up the kids from school and we headed north for a fun filled weekend!

We made good time driving through Chicago traffic and tried stopping in the Dells for a little Avalanche but the girl on the phone said it was not open today! :'(

Oh well, I guess I won't be tired driving tonight. We made it to St. Paul Mn and crashed for the night. Got up early and had a good breakfast at Denny's. After the great start we headed to Como Town. We got there early so we headed next store to take a peak at PTC's #33 Carousel from the MN state fair grounds. Then we headed over to the park and rode the *new* coaster -- Screamin' Dragon. They have added a lot of new rides and the park looks to be growing strong.

Twelve minutes later we were back in the car and off to Valleyfair! Started off great as it was almost 11 am and maybe a few hundred cars were in the parking lot! Caitlyn had missed the last credit whoring weekend that Gage and I did two years ago so everything was new to her. Steel Venom mis-launched two time as we were next in line and Caitlyn wanted to know if Ed was nearby! LOL

We got a few rides on everything with little to no waiting except for Renegade which was running one train early in the day. After waiting 45 minutes for the back seat we got a good ride but I still rate TH and KR ahead of Renegade. I was really surprised in the copper train with the bad shuffling already!!!!! We didn't notice it in the blue train but we also took front seat rides on it. Renegade hauls ass, but with CF's awesome maintenance on woodies I see this being trimmed!

We took a ride on Flume (best non name ever) as we missed it last time and I was surprised on how good it was. Speaking of names, what is with a Pirate Ship being named *Looping Starship*??? Took a little nap as the kids watched Dolphin's in the IMax theater! How can a movie be interesting and so boring at the same time?

So about 5pm it started to rain so we headed out to The Park at the Mall of America. I bought the $35.00 package and this got all of us on Timberland Twister (new to Caitlyn), Ripsaw and the best flat ride ever, Treetop Tumbler. I finally got a arm that went back wards during part of the ride. I wish I had taken in my camera to show you how much construction is going on in there. Signs everywhere on the new theming to Nickelodeon Universe.

So we were done with coasters today and were hungry so headed up to the 4th floor where all the restaurants are supposed to be. Only Hooter's was left up there. That was fine as that was where we wanted to go but what happened?

The MoA also took out Cereal Adventure and now has Moose Mountain Adventure Golf. It is a nice mini golf course but it is way pricey!

So I drove for about 2 hours back to toward the Dells and we stopped and crashed for the night. Got up and hit up another Denny's ( I usually do not eat at these but had two great breakfasts) in the Dells right next to Knuckleheads. So after breakfast we went to Knuckleheads to make Minor Mike......

Sad to see it go after all these years in the Dells!

Those final Wonder Spot photos made me die a lot inside. That place was my favorite part of the Dells, I'd go every year and it never got old.

Man I hope they build something just like it.

you where in the dells for breakfast and you went to Denny's? Next time you should go to Paul Bunyan's for the pancakes, eggs and donuts.

sad to see the spot gone... I have many memories from there as a child.

I have been going to the Dells since I was a baby and that place never gets old I love it so much. It's so peaceful and relaxing and there is so much to do! I always want to cry whenever the vacation is over and we have to leave. We usually stay at the Kalahari, which is such an awesome place. Ahh, I miss it!

As far as breakfast places go, I have never been to Paul Bunyans, although I hear it's pretty decent. My family's breakfast choice has alwys been Mr. Pancake across from Noah's Ark. They always have had great food. Also the breakfast buffet at the Great Karoo(I think thats the title) restaurant at the Kalahari with the overlook of the indoor waterpark. That is a good buffet too.
2010 is going to be one to remember forever!!

Nice job on 600!

Minor Mike is probably the best kiddie coaster I've ever been on.
