Mt. Olympus 8/19

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby ragingbullchick on August 22nd, 2006, 4:00 pm
The day started out great. I was with a pretty big group of 8 people, so we parked the cars right next to each other, really close to the enterance. We got our wristbands and walked right in.

First ride of the day was Zeus. We alreaday split into groups. My Aunt and Uncle already took their daghter, Grace, on some kiddie rides, because she's only 4 years old. The rest of us got in line and waited 20 mins. It was a pretty good coaster, especially because the lapbar was at least 6 inches away from my waist. It wouldn't go down any farther on any of us. So there was some major airtime involved.

Next was the Posiden Go-Karts. A 30 min. wait, but really a fun track. It's one of the best ones there.

Now it was Hades time. The line was enormous, but we went anyway. It took about 40 mins. My friend, Kelly, and I took back row. MAJOR speed and airtime. Still my favorite woodie.

Then it was Dive to Atlantis. It was a very sucky dive, I must tell you. This should not even be considered a water coaster, because the average speed is probably 3 mph. I'm not kidding. That was the biggest waste of 25 mins... ever!

After that, we headed to the waterpark. Rode a bunch of slides, really fun, but I couldn't go on Demon Drop, the very steep body slide. You had to be 100 lbs, and I'm only 91. (Yes, there is a scale at the top of the stairs). So I was a little bummed.

Kelly and I took the other 4 kids golfing while we gave my Aunt and Uncle a break. It was so crowded there... they should limit the number of pople in at one time. We left at hole 3, because it was taking us (and the people in front of us) forever.

Next we went to the indoor theme park... if you can call it anything close to a theme park. More like a foam-tent warehouse with carnival rides in it. Opa's line wasn't that long... may I add there is no queue, you just form a straight line right across from the enterance, right through the center of the ''amusement park''. Opa was a fun little coaster, better than RC. We rode this twice, and I did a few of the little rides in there with Grace.

We went to the water slides in the main park now, and hit both the family raft rides once, and the Speed Racers 3 times. I like these much better than the HH ones. We also went to the indoor water park for about 30 mins. There's nothing to do there.

Our group split up again, so Kelly and I went on the Helios Go-Karts, 15 min. wait and Disk-o, 5 min. wait. That was a really cool flat. I enjoyed that one. Since it was still just the 2 of us, we went on the Trojan Horse Go-Karts, which had a 30 min wait. I thought those were the best Go-Karts I'd yet to drive here.

Then, we went on Cyclops, no wait for back row. That was frickin' awesome! The car raises up off the track in a few spots. Since this was the only non-ridiculious line we were in all day, we went 2 more times.

Before we left and went for dinner, we hopped on Pegasus, a 5 min. wait for 4th row. Meh. That's all I have to say.

***left to eat an excellent cheeseburger at Monks, buy some fudge, and get the crap scared out of us at Haunted Mansion***

Came back to the park at 8 or so. We had to hours to ride Hades, Hades, and more Hades. But first, it was Little Titans. Whooo! Now that was a ride. We also got on Pegasus once more, so Hades would seem really good.

Finally, it was time for Hades... my first night ride on this. The wait was bad, because Kelly and I had the responsibility of keeping three fourth-graders entertained for 50 mins. But, we did stat talking to some cool dudes in line. (They were so hitting on us. J/K  )

Hades kicks butt in the daytime, but you haven't lived if you haven't rode his at night. It was AMAZING!!! The tunnel is pitch black, and it seems like you were in there for hours. I had so much fun on that ride... it was worth the sucky 50 min. line.

Now it was time for a Cyclops, Disk-O and Zeus marathon. We went on those two, which had 5 min. waits or less, each time... until it was 10 and we got some Dippin Dots, and left. All in all, a good day.

Totals:
Zeus---- 3
Hades----2
Cyclops---3
Pegasus--- 2
Opa---- 2
Dive to Atlantis---- 1
Little Titans---1, but you do 2 times around the track
Helios---- 1
Trojan Horse----1
Posiden--- 1
Disk-O----2
TOTAL: 19 (Does not count kiddie rides/ water attractions)

NOTES:

-Mt. Olympus employees are hard to underatand. They could use some people there that can actually speak English fluently. (No offense to anyone foreign, but I'm just saying that the amount of miscommunications I saw between employees and guests at this park was not even funny. It made the rides have longer wait times.)

-All coasters at this place have ONE TRAIN! Cyclops and Pegasus are such a short ride, it doesn't even matter. But Hades? Come on! Slow crews (2 ops for Hades, Zeus, and Opa, 1 op for every other coaster) and only one train? If you were here on a super crowded day, lines would be at least 2 and a half hours for Hades!

-It was a nice, clean family park. The ages in our group were from 4 to 36, and everyone had something to do!

-The indoor water park isn't worth wasting your time in.. neither is the free mini golf.

-Don't bother waiting for Demon Drop if you're under 100 lbs.

-The wave pool is very fun, especially without a tube.

-Indoor theme park needs a major expansion! It also needs to not look and feel like a warehouse in there. And, they need to speed up the building of the kids climbing structure. It still was all tore up, during the last part of the season.

Overall, the park was very nice. I also liked the reasonable $35 admission price.

^ Probably not so good. There's some huge fest that goes on that weekend, I believe, in the downtown Dells area. Usually, everything is pretty crowded. But, I could have the wrong weekend.
