July 8th - Park Jammin'

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Sedir on July 9th, 2006, 7:28 pm
We got to the park near opening and caught the end of the carousel dance/song thing. Then we went to the Southwest Amphitheater to get wristbands for Park Jam. Raging Bull was looking rather delicious so we headed to that first.

While waiting in line (it went to the stairs after the switchbacks) we noticed that a lot of the trains had empty rows, it was annoying had no one would take some of these rows because the ride wasn't a walk-on. Well we did back row, and it was a great ride. We liked it so much that we decided to ride again. This time we did front row, and it seemed like we were going reaally slow. The third hill (the camelback hill) that has the trims on it usually gives a ton of airtime for front row, we didn't get anything. The train just slowly moved on until the MCBR. Then it seemed to be going the right speed.

After that we did giant drop, and they had an organizer there. I never knew that they had one there. Once we got off we decided to do it again so we did.

Next we worked our way to Deja Vu. The line went to the entrance and used one switchback, but we couldn't resist and got in line. The line actually moved pretty fast, even with a breakdown. (The breakdown was incredibly short, as soon as the announcement for a breakdown ended the ride resumed operation.) I forgot which row we were in but it was a great ride.

Then we ate not much to say.

Then we were feeling pretty hot so we went on Logger's Run. It was a walk on and it was pretty fun so we went on it again afterwards. While we were on the ride we noticed that Yankee Clipper's line was rather packed, it was funny because they're pretty similar rides but one had a huge line and the other one didn't.

We tried to dry off on Whirlygig but that didn't really work so we went to Batman: The Ride afterwords. Quite a few switchbacks were being used but the line flew by and the line for front was rather short so we just did it. Great ride.

Next was King Chaos. I love that ride, except for the restraints, but hey at least your safe. The bad thing about this time I rode it was that my restraint was one of the last to come down but when it did, it came down reeally fast. And then better yet they had to open the restraints and then close them again, I wasn't sure why though. But did anyone else notice that they slightly changed the routine? Last time I went on this after all of the flips the car stops swinging and then it goes back forth but this time the car didn't stop swinging when the thing went back and forth. It actually did make that part better.

After that we were in the mood for some smashing so we went on Rue Le Dodge. It was fun and right at the end me and my friend smashed into each other head-on and it was just a huge one and a nice way to end the ride.

Then it was time for a nice ride on the Grand Carousel.

Space Shuttle America was next. We just got in as the doors opened. We had a row to ourselves so it was pretty fun. And also the row in front of us starts shaking before the ride even starts so that was funny to watch. This is another ride we enjoyed so much that we rode again.

We decided to relax in the Buffalo saloon for a bit but just before I was in the mood for Footsie-Wootsie: The Ride so I went on that. It was amazing. So we relaxed and then hit up Traiblazer and Chubasco before going to the Southwest Amphitheater.

I really didn't care to see the show but I was peer-pressured into seeing it and I also realized that there was probably going to be a lot of attractive girls in the audience  . When we got in we saw some radio disney dancers...hehe. And Ashley G. We all kinda felt bad for her because she kept trying to get the crowd pumped and no one really did anything. And then there was Teddy G. better then I thought although I was nearly deaf from the the screaming in the end. And I did get my eye candy. :D

After that I got some dip-in-dots and we left the park.

Not really actually (well it was still a saturday but yeah), eventually they were just letting people walk in the theater with or without wristbands because it wasn't going to be sold out.

Maybe it's just me, but does it seem like SF is getting smaller crowds than last year for these special events? I was at BBHJ, and it felt like a normal day, and from what your saying here, it looks like it would be about a normal Saturday. Maybe SF should do more advertising specifically for these events?

It's not a matter of advertising, its a matter of price. When you raise prices to $54.99 and parking to $15 there is going to be a large amount of people that do not come to the park anymore. This is in excess of 10% of last year's attendance ( A.K.A. 300,000 less people)

And Teddy G. isn't that huge of an artist so I don't think huge crowds were drawn in.

FOUR coasters???? I most always get 20+ when I go.

And why would you buy $2395809438 Dippin Dots THEN leave? Leave first, and buy like 30 culvers scoops for that price.

1. It was a saturday, lines weren't walkons. S:UF, V2, and RC all had full lines.

2. Some people I went with went to that park that day mainly to see the park jam, I was offered to go and couldn't refuse.

3. We got in quite a few flats, some that I haven't been on in awhile, so that was enjoyable.

And 4. There's a reason of why I have a season pass.
