Six Flags Over Georgia and Goliath Review 18&19

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby Ilovthevu' on June 20th, 2006, 10:18 am
My family and I made it to Six Flags Over Georiga on the 18th at about 10:15 for the first day we were there. It wasn't that bad in the morning considering that it was a Sunday. So, security was in, and out very fast. Being me, of course I made it to the back of the park to see if Deja Vu was open. It wasn't, and for the two days I was there, it wasn't open at all. However, awhile back I did ride it at Georgia so I wasn't that disappointed, but I was at the same time.

Anyway, the problem with there's is the fact that there catchcar on the first tower wouldn't move to pick up the train when the ride is down. It would move to release the train, but not to pick it up at the end of the ride. They say it's an overheating problem. At least our park, our ride has almost perfected the catching on the towers. Of course, it still happens, but it's not that bad as over there.

Even though, it was broke, I constantly went over there, and finally just gave it as it never opened. So, the water rapids ride named Thunder River was next. The best part is towards the end of the ride because the water gets choppy, and there are waterfalls. After this was the PTC wooden coaster named Great American Scream Machine. This wooden coaster is great. There have to about 10 hills in the entire ride. This absolutely better than American Eagle. I rode this about 6 times for both days. The next day I rode it, and it only had one train going. Of course, I was distraught because of this. However, later they put another one on which means that this place is changing for the better!!! :D

I think after this I went on Wheelie. This is the The Orbit. However, it is slower than ours. To me, it doesn't seem like a Shrawtkopf, but rather a Huss. I need to find this out. It just feels so different, and is slow. It even lands nicely. They only need one tire instead of three. :D :D It does look like the seats are refurbished. The next day on the 19th, the ride was broke, and was somewhat in the air.

At this time, I walked up the "big" hair to ride the Balloons. This ride is called Up, Up, and Away. The balloons are less, and you don't go high up as ours. There are no knobs on the doors, so the employee has to open all the doors. It's still fun though.

Next was Mindbender and Batman The Ride. Mindbender was good with two inversions, and not three!! It was running two trains, and it was really fun. On the second day, it broke down. I went on this five times for two days. I still like the Demon better by maybe 10 points higher. There are two loops in this ride while the other parts you just turn around. There is also an airtime in part of the ride. Of course, Batman The Ride is the same as ours except it's black!! The queue was packed. They have this huge room, and it was loaded. It had to take an hour and a half for this line. I went on this once.

I believe the next ride I went on was Arrow Dynamics Diaholenga Mine Train. Of course, this is awesome just like Six Flags St. Louis's. The last drop is so fun. I think I did this 4 times for both days. The seats looked really red like they just painted them.

I might as well say that Acrophobia was broke down the first down while it opened the second day. I don't care for freefall rides that much, so I didn't get on it.

The last rides of the night were ride on Georgia Cyclone. This ride has airtime galore, and is pretty rough at the same time. I loved this ride. This is now my number eight favorite ride in the country. How can you not? I think for both days, I had to get at least 10 times on this ride.

For the first day, the rides were pretty packed, while the second day being a Monday, it was pretty empty. However, I enjoyed both days.

The other three rides that I didn't get on the first day were Georgia Scorcher, Log Jamboree, and Goliath.

Georgia Scorcher is a little better than Iron Wolf because I didn't feel my head get banged at all like I do on Iron Wolf. This is just a miniscule. Otherwise, the layout is very similiar without "pretend no trim break track." They perfected the original standup coaster. The corkscrew does in fact go the other way compared to ours.

Log Jamboree is a pretty short log ride, but it's pretty fun for a log ride. It doesn't have to be that long. I did get wet on it. Well, the moment you been waiting for is Goliath. This ride is pretty great. This is for someone who thinks that Raging Bull is booorrrinnng. The airtime is everywhere in this ride. Even in the helix, I felt airtime. Up, and down. Repeat. I hate Raging Bull's side turns, and on top of it, it has too many helixes. This ride does not waste my time on stuff like that. I do see this ride breaking down more than ours though for the fact that the lift hill is so steep. It has to be at a 60 degree angle greater than any lift hill I've ever seen. It's a whole lot less track though. It seems like too much weight at that angle.

I didn't get to Superman because we have it by us so there was no need for it. I also didn't do Ninja because I been on it before, and remember it's Ninja.

This place has incredible roller coasters. I like alot of there coasters (9):
1. Deja Vu
2. Goliath
3. Georgia Cyclone
4. Great American Scream Machine
5. Superman Ultimate Flight
6. Georgia Scorcher
7. Diaholenga Mine Train
8. Mind Bender
9. Batman The Ride

By the way the first day, I stayed till 9, and the second day I stayed till 4. I had to leave early to come home.

The one weird thing about this park is that they don't know time for nothing. They let you ride early on rides (at least 9 minutes early), but they shut the lines down earlier. It wasn't that bad considering it was only five minutes, and I still got on before it was closed. It was Georgia Cyclone. Why can't they just have it normal like our park??

That sounds so much fun. My mom lives near the park. Well actually 6 hours away but maybe one day I'll get to go. I hope so. Your trip report made me excited.

Glad you liked SFoG. I also found it very enjoyable when I visited the June 2nd and June 4th.

Now I have to differ with you on Gasm. It was a ok ride for me just way to slow.

Now you said something that disturbed me The last rides of the night were ride on Georgia Cyclone. This ride has airtime galore, and is pretty rough at the same time. I loved this ride. This is now my number eight favorite ride in the country. How can you not?

Even though i enjoyed the ejector air form Georgie Cyclone, no wooden coaster should shuffle side to side and jack hammer at the same time! You need to get on some good wood! ;)

Sounds like fun.

But I can guarantee you Goliath's lift hill is not 60 degrees, haha. Bull's drop is 65 degrees, so obviously that is wrong. I believe it looks steep though.

It has to be steeper than Raging Bull. There is not a lot of track to get up to that height. Here's a picture of it.
My unaccurate measuring of the lift hill was about 42 degrees.

For Raging Bull looking at this picture, it was only 20 degrees.

This is a huge difference. This means more weight is going to be put on that chain. I measured this by opening those pictures. Leaving your mouse on the lift hill, close the screen using the alt f close, and then checking it with the protractor you posted.
