Another Opening Day TR

Let us know how your day at the park was.
Postby mallclerks on April 29th, 2006, 11:11 pm
Got to the park around 9:20, got in line, went into park, decided we would goto Bull first, ran like crazy at 10am, group of four of us were about 10-14th in line. We waited for the front row, was great to finally get on a coaster again after months of waiting.

We then proceeded to Giant Drop and American Eagle-red - No waits for either. Iron Wolf, again no wait - Ragin Cajun, while in line which was about 10 minutes, longest of the day, the Justice League dropped in from the sky, was a little korny, but I am sure smaller kids loved it. As some of the others have said, it was funny as one of them just flew totally out of the group, while 4 of them stayed close to each other, this other one looked to be a mile away, and had to have landed 5 minutes after the rest of them. Next we hit up Superman, 5 minute wait, and then headed to the mall for some lunch.

Once back in the park around 3pm we went and got my one friends pass processed, in which unlike past opening days where it is usually busy atleast somewhat, he was the only non crew member in the building. I forgot my parking stub in the parking lot, so had to come back later to get my season parking pass for $45 doh!
After this we headed over to Viper, no wait at all for backrow, and then again ride in the back on RB. Went over to Iron Wolf in which the rain started to pick up so we got on the train, after which is was about 5:20 and raining fairly hard and all the rides were getting shut down for the time being, so we went to the new Looney Tunes show, The Toonite show. Was a nice time to take a nap atleast :D

After this my GF went out into the car, and me and my 2 friends went over to RB and seen they were testing it, got in behind a few others who were waiting. Once it opened, we got about 12 rides on it without getting off the train once. At this point the park was completely empty, looking into the parking lot it was amazing how empty it was, only a handful of cars left, and 3 buses. First few rides on Bull killed, being the rain was still falling and when it hit your face, it hit fairly hard, felt like ice. Eventually it let up, and turned into some great rides other then being wet and cold :!: Around 7:30 my friends decided they had enough rides, and I didn't want to make them wait around for 30 minutes while I continued to ride, so we left the park.

Overall, a great day. Over 14 rides on Raging Bull, can't think of a better way to start the season. Along with getting on everything else except whizzer since the two times I tried, it broke down right as I got into the line :| One thing I did learn, no where in the park had hot chocolate, four of the places I tried said they did, took my money, and then said "Oh, I guess we don't have the machine set up yet" and gave me the money back - I would have thought they would have figured being it was going to be cold/rainy today they would have got that all ready.

Otherwise, good empty park and fun time, assuming you can put up with the weather.

I only saw the TOONite show open. Grand Music Hall and "Tribute to the Stars" opens on May 27, same as HH, and the Pictorium with "Martian" or something like that opens in June.
YEA!!!! THREE MONTHS TO GO!!!!!!!

Yeah, pretty much all the other shows open up durign the summer. I also had a great day but I'm not gonna post a TR. I did get front row on the first ride of Raging Bull on the season that was good. I also got 42 rides in with 20 of those 42 coming in the last hour +15 minutes of the day and I liked that a lot.

8 rides in that Raging Bull rain in a row sorta started to hurt at the end of the night, but it was worth it. The park was so dead at night that Dan and I rode with the same people on teal train 8 rides in a row, and the last 3 trains of the night had empty stations. Talk about nobody there.

Yep, was amazing how empty the park had become. I didn't mind the rain except while on the coaster, can't deny that the rain hurt like a bi*** while riding Bull, but it was still worth it :) The second time I have been able to have a marathon at Gam like that, the other being 2-3 years ago on Iron Wolf - 25+ rides in back row without getting off once.

This is the reason I don't mind rainy days though, it empties the park out and allows me much more coaster time!
