Six Flags Dubailand.. Really?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Apparently Six Flags is yet again creating another park. This park will open in 2011. I just think it's funny they are in such a crisis with debt, and then they build a whole new park. Hopefully this will pump some money it, but it will probably turn into another money sucker.

^ Dude, Six Flags isn't paying a Penny for this Park. Whats Happening is they are being paid for Liscensing fees and a Share Of Profits. Probably around 10 Million or More a Year, Depending on How Dubailand does.

Six Flags Dubailand is what you call a FRANCHISE Six Flags!

This Entire Complex will be a "Franchise Six Flags", "Franchise Universal Studios" and something else if i remember what the release said. EDIT: Here is an excerpt from the Six Flags Dubai page on SF.com: "the three billion sq feet DUBAILAND™, a member of Tatweer, comprises projects that include DreamWorks Animation Park, Universal Studios Dubailand®, BAWADI®, Global Village, and projects that are under advanced stages of development including Dubai Sports City, Motor City, Falcon City, Dubai Heritage Vision, and Al Barari. The Polo and Equestrian Club and City of Arabia are currently in the initial stages of infrastructure work."

See all those names, Universal Studio's, Dreamworks. This is something Dubai is paying for, but paying out to use the names Six Flags, Dreamworks, Universal Studios. Now this does not mean these PARKS will have nothing to do with the development, im sure all these parks will want some say in it at some point. But ya, none of these parks are paying for this, rather are being paid so Dubai can run them under there names.

Six Flags will get paid yearly for the name use of "Six Flags" and themeing", they will also get a small cut in profits.

**Not to menchin that Dubailand has been discussed and Announced for Quite some time now**

^Yeah, I know. I was just wondering about the money part. And this is a forum anyway, where people can start topics of whatever they want, and get answers.

Yeah, so, I didn't know that. I think that is a good idea, and hopefully will make them money. I am pretty sure there aren't, if any, a lot of theme parks over there. Are there anyone parks like that in the chain, or no? Like, is La Ronde and Fronteir City owned by Six Flags?

There's Tokyo Disneyland Resort where Disney gets paid Heavily for the Disney Name.

Six Flags Owned Frontier City. They Just Didn't Flag it like with Wyandot Lake and Great Escape.
I think Six Flags Manages La Ronde but the City owns the Park. Just Guessing Here.

^ Most of the parks that are planned to be over there aren't supposed to open until about that time anyway. I think they just finished one of the palm tree islands and are almost done with the second. If the project is still going, Busch Gardens / Sea World Dubai is going on the 2nd palm tree island with their own special orca shaped plot at the very top. In the grand scheme of things in Dubai, most of the stuff is still being built.

People about just said already, but it's instant cash for Six Flags. They pay nothing, and get money for using their name. It's like Six Flags paying the rights for the Warner Brothers characters, but in reverse.
