I am Going To Cry!

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

I was reading a post here about cutting 60M dollars from SFGAM budgets, and so I looked on line and found this article from Jan. 29th saying that there's speculation that SFGAM will file for bankruptcy protection!
I will just fall to pieces if that place closes! I literally count the days from the closing to the opening of Hurricane Harbor every year since it opened. Please someone read the article and tell me I read it wrong!

Don't worry, that is the chain, not the park. Also, if the chain does go under, there are companies that would quickly jump right in and buy SFGAm as it is among the top, if not the top park in the chain.

Well, the article is correct and SFGAm won't be a park they would sell since it does bring in a great sum of profit year after year.

While neither of the two posts preceding this one were complete sentances, they're both right.

If your going to play grammar police then learn how to spell "sentence"

Anyway, if for one second you think that Shapiro is driving Six Flags into bankruptcy then you really need to step back and think about how Burke and Company ran things.

I rest my case.

^ Im not, Shapiro is atleast trying to right the ship, maybe Six Flags was worse off then originally thought?

Any, a bankruptcy could be an option for the company, I stress could, look at how a Chapter 11 filing helped KMart and United Airlines, both companies where strapped with debt much like SF. Who knows what will happen.

I'd also venture to say that Shapiro's winning the audiences of the those that have been alienated by the Cedar Fair "geniouses".... . Believe that!

perhaps everyone would be happier and less stressed if SF simply went under and sold off all it's assets to the highest bidders (real estate developers more often than not)?

Every move since Shapiro took over Six Flags I have been with him 100%. He defiantly has the right idea about getting the faimlies involved. I really hope for the best for the company.

^Me too, despite i was upset with the first impression he gave off, after seeing him at work at our park, he really helped us out! I think this year should be a better year for the company! Great additions all around for most parks.

Thanks to everyone!
I feel a bit less worried about my favorite summer place closing. You guys are right. There probably would be enough people or companies willing to buy the place if it were to go under. I shouldn't worry about it closing up.
Thanks Again!

If the "you" you were referring to here is me, then I apologize for being misunderstood as I was agreeing with you, not the original post, if not then well...void.

I wonder if a change in ownership would be good for the park or not.

- I think they Should start adding hotels to each one of their properties. So that they can make money year-round, Cedar Point has Hotels and campgrounds and made 210 million dollars in 2006.
- Also, lowering prices (Admission, Parking, Food, etc.) would be a good idea.

^ you dont think 55.00 is a good price? Think about it this way... On a day where they are open from 10-9, guest are able to roam the park for 11 hours, that's only 5.00 an hour, not too bad in my mind! They do offer season passes if you want a deal, but 55.00 (a lot of times they have coupons) is really not that bad of a price you make it out to be.

How about Hotels? I know Great America has the new Keylime Cove but Great Adventure, St. Louis, and America all have enough land or more to build a couple of hotels.

I think Six Flags could turn Great Adventure into the Next WDW. All they need is:

- RV Park
- 2-3 Multi Thousand Room Hotels
- Expansion to Hurricane Harbor, Second Waterpark, or a New Indoor Waterpark
- Shopping and Dining District
- Maybe a Second Park (Indoors?) themed to Just Warner Bros.
- Campground

Surely they can add all this if Cedar Point can have alot on 365 or so Acres.

Keep in mind that Profits and Attendance will increase with every one of those completed.

Keylime cove is a seperate ententy from SFGAm.

Also I'd like to hear your thoughts on where SF will get the money for this utter waste in New Jersey you propose.

We just don't have the room. We are close to Chicago and Milwaukee and there are plenty of other places to stay.

I'm sure you could snatch up one of those Hotels off of I-94. There's a ton of room off of Northride Dr. by Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, etc... (off of Grand Ave.)

Well tp41190, I kind Of Knew that So thats why I said:

SIX FLAGS GREAT ADVENTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They get the highest attendance of any Six Flags park
They do have 2,200 acres of Property

Remember the phrase "You have to spend money to make money"

This will turn SIX FLAGS GREAT ADVENTURE into a Multi Day resort and get more people who will spend money each day at the resort.

*****PLEASE PEOPLE, I KNOW SIX FLAGS GREAT AMERICA IS LANDLOCKED BUT SIX FLAGS AMERICA, SIX FLAGS ST. LOUIS, AND SIX FLAGS GREAT ADVENTURE ARE NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!*****
