Cedar Point is getting a new kids area called Planet Snoopy with some new kids rides and stuff. See what you think here: http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/news/news.cfm?mode=story&story_id=47 This is good for the kids because most of the rides there are bigger thrills because it's the ''Thrill capital of the world''. As long as they don't start putting more kiddie stuff in like SF is doing. But I'm kinda over reacting. (!!!!) They're getting 7 new rides for that area along with Peanut's Express now being in that area too.

Cedar Point has plenty of rides for kids/families. I wouldn't say that most are bigger thrills either. Other than the coasters, Maxair, and Skyhawk, the rest is for the most part family rides.
What a waste, this section is reusing most of the old rides, and adding new rides that already exist elsewhere in Camp Snoopy. Seriously, Cedar Point should be treating the families/kids the same as the treat the coaster nuts, with the greatest in kids rides, the latest in technologies, and with funds that most other theme parks can't spend on their guests!

I think this is a great idea! It is time that the park builds something for families....and not over doing it like Six Flags.
The park said that this section was going to be for famines and kids, with ride they can ride together, along with a kids/family orientated restaurant. The restaurant would have a reverse menu with a all the pages being kids items, and then a little section for adults. Besides, its not like they could put another coaster in the area anyway. It about time they have another family area in the park.

Well said Tony, but I wouldn't count on that any time soon. I don't how much attendance will increase because of Planet Snoopy, but one thing for sure is that there are more people saying, "we get no new thrill ride this year, but we get a stupid Planet Snoopy section??? WTF!!"
If it walks like socialist, quacks like socialist, smells like a socialist, .... it's a socialist. Hope, and change we can believe in.
They'll have to. Cedar Point isn't synonymous with families, but they are with the coaster community, and I think they're expected to frequently update their thrill department.
They either need try to get a floorless like the Batman The ride at SFNE, or at least a spinning wild mouse coaster or spinning twisted steel like Tony Hawk.

I think a floorless would be neat, but I don't get all the hype about them. The floorless coasters I rode were fun, but I don't think there's too much difference in ride experience vs. traditional sit down coasters with inversions.
^But how many of those does Cedar Point actually have?! When it comes to sit downs, Cedar Point doesn't have many at all, that's why Maverick was a huge improvement, and a floorless would seal the deal. I think now that SFMM has gotten the kinks out of X (for the most part), I would personally like to see Cedar Point go down that route.

that's what I thought. I just rode a floorless coaster for the first time when i went to Sea World Orlando over winter break, and I didn't get the hype. It almost just felt like a normal coaster to me. Maybe I'm just stupid for thinking that. I like the idea of giving them a kiddie area. Maybge it was the fact that it was night for most of the time i was there (two nights, one day), but I thought they kind of needed a new little kid area. I should be good for them.
The only way you'll get the full effect on a floorless coaster is if you sit in the front seat. If you sit in the other seats the only way you'll get some effect is if you look down as you ride the coaster. I personally think it's just a gimmick, but it works apparently.
The tide has turned...after all of those years competing for the best thrill rides...we begin to compete for the best kids area.
I would love to say that this SHOULD finally shut up the idiots out there who still think that theme parks should only cater to thrillseekers, by noting that another company now thinks the strategy is good enough to work. But we all know it won't happen.
Captain, don't shake the passengers up too much this time! Just giving them their money's worth!
Could it be? Interesting. Thanks for posting that. I was reading somewhere that there's going to be topple tower going intot he park next year but that was just a rumor. If they get a new coaster they'll be 18 coasters. That pretty amazing for a (Holy) piece of land over a lake in Ohio. Also I noticed in the second to the last pic that looks like a giant thumbnail and made me laugh.

As much as I'd like it to be, I don't think it's coaster track. If you look on the far left, and on the right in the background, there are two square things connected to it, making it look more like a tower or something.
I looks a bit too big to be coaster track. So maybe they are getting a new tower of some sort. Like I said in my last post, rumor about a topple tower. Doubt CP would get one but you never know.
