Six Flags/B96 Summer Studio

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Has anyone noticed the B96 Summer Studio set up in the Mardi Gras Area? Well I'm going to explain to some of you what it will exactly be used for if you haven't seen it yet. I go to the Illinois Center for Broadcasting in Lombard and we will be earning internship hours with B96 to be in charge and make all the park announcements live. Instead of the recorded show announcements and weather, etc, we will be doing it live. Also around August or so we should have control of the music in the park. It's funny because all the music in the park is run off of a bank of about 8 docked I-pods.

Anyways, I'll have to go through a 5 hour park orientation, just like employees, and then training for the studio. The computer set up has the park divided into buttons, and I can select one button and only talk to that area of the park. It is going to be awesome. I even get a free season pass (my b96 id acts as it.) That sucks that I am getting one for free though because I had already bought my pass already lol.

Tell me your thoughts on live announcements instead of recorded.

I rather have recorded, I was in the park yesterday and the way B96 made an ann. it was very low in volume and they were not enthusiastic at all. So if they keep on being this way, people won't go to shows, b/c they wouldn't hear ann. or ann. wasing "welcoming" them enough, cause it was boring. I personaly don't like it.
Six Flags Ameirca as the number 1 park at SFI.... this is JOKE!

The only thing that would impress me is that if they brought back the old soundtracks and expaned them to them docked i-pods. The theme was ruined when they added the Jack-FM mixes last year. Yukon Territory was beautiful until they added the 70s music. Now it's a mixture of rock and pop.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

Hear ye, hear ye: "After 45 years, Six Flags has stopped smoking."

I personally enjoyed the live annoncements that I heard in the park. They sound much better than hearing the same thing over and over again.

Docked iPod's is the way to go. It's cheap and easy to use.

Live will always trump recorded anyday. Any announcements made live will certainly take precedent over a prerecorded one. But if youre going to do live, make it sound that way. Talk about the sun, the crowd, the events (dads day, etc). If you have the personailty of a juice box, it will show and even the most devout tourist wont listen.

If you have the control, use it and mix it up a bit.

So just speak like you want us to come to a party, not a funeral.
Is 2009 the last page in Chapter 10?

Unfortunately sometimes the volume on the speakers is out of our control. On our computer screen the volume is turned all the way up but the mains somewhere in the park aren't. I personally am highly energetic and I am very excited to do this so you'll hear enthusiasm out of me. I am glad most of you enjoy it.

Do you have to do the "six flags has stopped smoking" announcements? Those are the best.

They are still automated however we do make announcements often its something about six flags being a family friendly smoke free environment. It isnt the actual "after 40 years six flags has STOPPED smoking." We have a script of what we have to say.
