Another idiot gives amusement parks a bad name.

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

RYE, New York (AP) -- A man drowned after wading into a lake at a historic amusement park, the third fatality at the park in as many years, authorities said.

Won Yong Kim, of Queens, was celebrating July Fourth at Playland Amusement Park with his wife and 5-year-old son Tuesday when he waded into the man-made lake and began struggling in the water, said Westchester County Public Safety Commissioner Thomas Belfiore.

Kim, 43, was removed from the lake, which is off-limits to swimmers, and was pronounced dead about an hour later at a hospital.

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Idiots. I feel sorry for the man's wife and little boy. But isn't that why the man-made pool was off-limits to swimmers!?!! People don't listen these days!!!!! No wonder amusement park deaths are at an all-time high!!!!

No matter how many saftey systems you get, you can't protect people from stupidity.
Every jumbled pile of person has a thinking part that wonders what the part that isn't thinking, isn't thinking of.

^ Very well put. You can have the safest park in the world, but people's stupidity rules over anything. You can try to make things safe, but how people think is beyond your control.

I agree. The amusement park industry can't do anything to stop the stupid egos of some people. That's how someone got injured on the Tornado. Folks this stuff is nothing new! Many factory workers had parts of their bodies cut off in the industrial age because they took a step off the safe road.

This is just so sad because it was unnecessary. Follow the rules; don't go where you're not supposed to go, and you'll be fine. There's a reason why there are signs telling people to stay away from such things. It's just a real shame that this man lost his life and the family lost a valued member.

I wouldn't say the girl on Tornado was injured because of her "stupid ego." I will say that it could have been caused by rider error, though.
