Cedar Point Tips and Tickets

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby w00dland on June 1st, 2006, 6:03 pm
So I'm finally going to Cedar Point next week with a bunch of friends, and we want to know if there is a MVP type pass that is offered at CP, or if I should buy tickets online, or find coupons, etc.

Any other tips about the park, getting there, etc are totally welcome!

I'd say buy the 2-day ride and slide online. It gets you into the theme park and water park for 2 days, and is less that even buying two just theme park tickets.

Also, I've learned from experience that it's better to park in the waterpark parking lot at all times. To get there, just stay on the road on the left after you get through the parking gate. First, it's a lot less busy than the other parking lot. Second, the drive back to that lot is an experience in itself. Driving by the old hotel (which is now employee housing), Millenium Force, and Mean Streak is just amazing, especially with Lake Erie so close to your left. Third, there's a good chance you will get to park underneath a shade tree, which is definitely impossible in the front lot. Fourth, you are closer to the waterpark, which means less walk if you need to go get your suit to go into the waterpark. And finally, fifth, you start at the back of the park, so all those rides like Magnum, Mean Streak, Gemini, and (fingers crossed) Dragster won't have unbearable lines to start the day.

My last tip is for Raptor. No matter how tempted you are, wait to ride it until at least 6 P.M. During the day, the line is almost unbearable, and the times without shade just plain suck. Towards the end of the day, however, the line just basically is nonexistant and it's walk-on city for (in my opinion) the best ride in the park.

I hope my tips help, and have a great time. It truly is an awesome park.

When you ride Millenium Force row 5-1 bayside seat. Best airtime.

It would be amazing if you were staying on-site at Breakers, but assuming your not...

Yes, back of the park is a lot better place to park.
It also get's you closer to SkyHawk, Dragster, Millenium Force and all that Jazz.

Just some warnings...
-Mean Streak Hurts.
-Gemini hurts in the final helix.
-Raptor hurts coming into the station, depending on seat.
-Ride Demon Drop.
-Dragster is only about a 45 minute wait for front the whole day, take advantage of it.

After you ride everything, the park may get slightly boring from my own experience. So I ended up riding MF, TTD, and maXair the rest of the day.

Most of all, have fun. It's a great park and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I've gone to Cedar Point in 2004 and 2005. Here's what you may want to look out for from both years

2004:
Wicked Twister was closed (both years)
Millennium Force: 2 hour line
Raptor: 1 hour line
Top Thrill Dragster: 3 hour line (didn't ride it)

2005:
This year was WAY better

Wicked Twister was closed
Millennium Force was 30 minute wait
Top Thrill Dragster: 1 hour wait (rode it for the 1st time. Rode in Front Row. AMAZING!!!)
All other rides had no line

So my advice:
1) Right when you get there, head to Top Thrill Dragster. Lines can get long in a heartbeat
2) Next do Millennium Force.
3) Then Magnum XL-200. After that, you're on your own
4) Mantis does hurt your legs. But it's still fun
5) Wildcat is more fun than it looks
6) People say Mean Streak hurts, However it didn't hurt me when I rode
7) Ride MaXair. It's fun
8) GET MORE INFO ON THE NEW COASTER
9) Have Fun!
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

MF was down Tuesday, and Wednesday. I am sure that it will be up by the time you go.

If you could afford it, I would recommend Hotel Breakers to stay at., and get the package deal. It may be alittle expensive, but you get alot....

2 Funday admissions
2 Starlight admissions
2 buy one, get one free Soak City coupons
4 Minature golf tickets
$30 in Munch money that you can use just about anywhere.
10% off anything
$10 off Ripcord

We paid $241 for the above package. If two of you split the price, it would be $120 each. Plus if you get a beach side room, the view is amazing.

Millenium Force re-opened today, my friends there got the second dispatch on the yellow train front row. Just buy a season pass if you go more than 3 days, it is $99.99 I think...

Gemini hurts in the final helix.

Yes it does. I thought I was going to dislocate my shoulders when I hit the helix.

Another piece of advice. Magnum seems to be getting rougher every year. For three straight years, it has seemed to shake you up more, and more. Now that I think about it, that National Geographic show, Supercoasters, was right. You can really feel every welding part on Magnum.

Glad to hear that MF is back in operation. Unfortunatly for our group, we are all 18 years old right now so hotels are out of the picture, we are doing a campsite near to the park, though.

I think we are going to go for the 2 day park hopper tickets for 65 each, sounds like a good deal to me!

Thanks for the help.

By the way, good luck getting 5-1.

You either wait for Front Row, Back Row, or get grouped randomly.

Each day I was there they let us choose whichever row we wanted.

There are tons of hotels that book rooms to 18 year olds. I booked a room as a 19 year old when we went to SFSTL at a Red Roof Inn.

You don't need to camp, unless you really want to.

-Doing "hands-up" on the final bunny hills for Magnum XL-200 is really painful.
-Drink lots of water some parts of the park are barely shaded and can get really hot and dehydrating.

-Yeah, this definitely happened when I went. When the GP was let in all of the switchbacks (and I mean all) were full for Raptor. And then when we went back to it later, there was a walk on for front row.
