2006 Cedar Point Additions!

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

While Cedar Point’s newest thrill ride, Skyhawk, is getting all the attention, guests will find plenty of other new additions at the park this year. Among the big changes is a change at the gate. Park Operations

Magnum XL-200 - painting is now complete

Space Spiral – new paint

Thunder Canyon – queue has been changed

CP & LE Railroad – Judy K has been refurbished

RipCord – lower price

Pet Chek – now $15 per animal, per day

Food Services

Breakwater Café – new prime steak dinner: Prime Rib, New York Strip Steak, Filet Mignon, Sirloin Steak, Full-Pound Porterhouse.

Hurricane Hannah’s – replacing Hofbrau and featuring a menu that includes Chicken Wraps, Burgers, Panini’s, and Pizza.

Transport Refreshments – now serving gluten-free items

Macaroni’s – a new build-your-own sandwich bar along with pizza, appetizers, salads and desserts

Mr. Potato – added Fresh Lake Erie Perch to menu

Burger Patio – added Fresh Lake Erie Perch to menu

Shake & Malt Room – replacing Hot Diggity Dog, featuring hand-dipped milk shakes and malts

Coasters - new sirloin steak burgers

Midway milk carts featuring vanilla, chocolate and strawberry Toft’s milk

Many, many lower priced items, including lower prices on hot dogs, meal baskets, cotton candy, 20oz Pepsi, 32oz soft drinks, pizza, ice cream novelties, and more.

Resorts

Hotel Breakers – new 70-person “super spa”

Cedar Point Marina – new parking lot, visitor boat docks added to South basin

Dominic’s - new family-style menu featuring entrees in small (two to four people) and large (four to six people) serving sizes

Island Accents – replacing Intermissions and featuring Tommy Bahama

HalloWeekends

A new medieval themed Fright Zone that will be located in Point Pavilion

Merchandise / Games

Attitudes – replacing Hattitudes

Lotsapalooza – a larger version is coming back to the park after a one year absence

CP Sundries – the new name for the Infant Shop

Spooky Hollow – replace Frontier Merchant

Frontier Merchant Rock Shop - new name for Pottery Shop, now operated by Kaman’s

Heading West - adding Quick Silver, Roxy clothing

Main Arcade will have smaller than regulation Bowling Lanes. Also, in the Main Arcade, will be a western themed Shooting Gallery, to be installed later this season.

Basketball 3-Point Challenge Game will be located near Demon Drop. It will be similar to the All-Star game at college length.

Live Entertainment

“Hot Summer Lights: Fire Up the Night!” will replace Snoopy’s Summer Spectacular

“Divine Divas” is the new show in the Palace Theatre

“Rock The House!” is the new show in Red Garter Saloon

Miscellaneous

New lockers have been installed at Skyhawk

There will be new pop machines throughout the park.

The park introduced a re-designed web site earlier this year.

New name tags for full-time employees

Re-designed name tags for seasonal employees

Main Parking Lot – bus parking lot resurfaced

Frontiertown – new concrete and lighting

Restroom renovations – Pet Chek

Joe Cool Club – Early rides for 2006 are Millennium Force, Raptor, Skyhawk, and maXair

New supervisor uniforms

New storage bins at major rides for loose

Promotions

Monty Jasper to Assistant General Manager

Bob Wozniak to director of park operations

John McClure to manager of operations services

Dave Bauer to area manager of traffic, tolls, special events, warehouse, park services office, transportation

Bryan Edwards to public relations manager

Karen Wilhelm to Account Executive in sales department

Carrie Singler to Account Executive in sales department

Carrie Fath to Account Executive in sales department

Hires

Jack Highsmith as a consultant

Jason Fraley as Sandcastle Suites manager

Jessica Gast as reservations supervisor

Brittany Buhro as sales representative

all i can say is what is cedar point doing RIGHT that Six flags is doing soooooo wrong. lol

I think they are great changes!! Seems like they thought of just about everything.
RIP: Trailblazer and Deja Vu...heck, even Alien Encounter :(

Sounds great for the road trip thats getting planned. 70 bucks for 2 days at CP sounds great to me!
