If anyone recalls, recently Cedar Fair registered the name "Maverick" in the US trademark office.
Perhaps this has something to do with it.
But, here's my $.02 on this:
This new ride, if its a rollercoaster will be either a flyer or a floorless. With Tatsu being the "Tallest, Fastest, Largest" Flyer, And Cedar Point being the land of the Tallest and Fastest, Largest, Biggest, Best of everything.
My money is going with this new whatever it is, being a Flyer. That is IF they are in fact building a coaster.
I'm betting they lowered admission prices to attract more people. More people will see this thing being built over the course of the season, and come back next year just in time for next years price increase due to the new attraction.
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
Thats a great point Josh, especially if this new whatever, is a rollercoaster.
If you look at Cedar Fair's recent rollercoaster installs, they have been B&M whatever's. Which (and im speculating here) makes the notion of a B&M Floorless or Flyer more and more feesible.
The most interesting rumor I've heard would be 4-D.
From the looks of things there is only going to be two in the whole world at this time next year so that would be a smart move.
Add on top of that maybe B & M have completed their design of the 4D and their first one will be at CP. So it will be even better than the other 2 4D's. That is a B & M footer if I've ever seen one.
Also keep in mind however that they did take out a water ride, so they also might want to replace with a water ride.
Or they could put in a dive machine with a splashdown at the end. Seriously could be anything at this point (pun) its too hard to guess.
But in looking at the new evidence: the object under the blue tarp looks like it would bolt to a round support. So it most likely would be steel. And I see I believe a three of them.
Since you guys narrow it to B & M flyer or floorless I would say floorless.
Also it could be anything else besides those two.
I would also say a splashdown somwhere on this ride is a possibilty though. Can a flyer even have one? I would say a floorless definetly would since they took a water ride out.
If a Flyer had a splashdown, u would need to be on your back at that point during the ride and the train would have those chutes like Sheikra has.

Take this for what you want but what I heard from someone that 'knows' an electrician that worked there in the fall that CP has pulled more then twice the amount of electicity that it takes to power Wicked Twister. To me you don't need that kinda power for a B&M. Supposed path also takes this ride between Mean Streak and Gemini into the parking lot.

Now im not one to bring about rumors, but remember the rumor awhile back about "Dueling Flyers" now i know this might be far fetched, but if the "ride" requires double the power of Wicked Twister, then who says that needs to be one ride? why not two?
I still think it would be a neat idea to add an enormous Roller Soaker there to not only replace the water ride, but to add a family feel to that side of the park. Wouldn't that be neat to also make it so it goes over Lake Erie, too!
Anyway, that probably isn't happening and i'm thinking a dueling Flyer.

Galvan I'm not an electrician but I would think that Intamin impulse coasters have way more power then what a normal lift hill coaster requires. I would bet you could power two or three regular coasters with what V2 or WT uses.
Iggy - will wait and see!

Impulse coasters have a short high peak usage in power. Lift hill coasters have a smaller peak with longer duration. I would love to see how close the actual usage per month in KW is between a large lift coaster like Raging Bull and a small impulse like V2.
Does anyone know the size of the motor at the bottom of RB's lift?

Iggy - can you clarify this remark for me? What do they mean by "pulled". This can mean two things. The first being actual usage over the fall. The second meaning a request to reserve capacity, or increase capacity by pulling new wire and placing new transformers.
If they are refering to actual usage over the fall, then this could be explained by the type of earth moving equipment they used to do some of the site work. There are several companies that produce very large earth movers that run off of electricity. Usually you only see this in mining and quarry applications, but given the cost of diesel these days, I could see the technology migrating to construction.

yay, time to dig down into my depths of useless knowledge
Mr Freeze Power Requirements (per launch where applicable)
Powered by 224 linear induction motors (designed and engineered by Force Engineering)
40 LIMs on the spike (each unit countains two LIMs)
172 LIMs on the initial launch track
6 pairs of LIMs per transfer track
Amperage Draw: 5000 amps
Voltage Requirement: 480 volts 3 phase
2.4 Million watts (kinda puts the average 100 watt light bulb to shame)
Attained motive force: 5,000HP
And as designed the initial launch is 3.78 seconds (so it uses a majority of that power in that time)
And unrelated fact: The top of the vertical spike is 242 feet 6 inches.

I have a feeling it wont be a B&M flyer. If you look some flyers by B&M, the footers have been round and drilled into the ground. There are few which are square and cemented into the ground.

Just a thought on the dueling flyers theory. The rides name could possibly be "Maverick". This was also the name of Tom Cruises character in "Top Gun". This could be CP's way of theming it to be a dogfight without getting in all sorts of heap with Paramount's attorneys.
I would like to see an interlocking duel pretzel loop. The two tracks would be perpendicular to one another with the loops interlocked. As one train is entering their loop at the top, the other train would be exiting their loop at the bottom. Depending on which train you ride, you would see the other train either above you or below you moving 90 degrees to your perspective.
Given the verdict from Ohio, I imagine they would have to install a plexi-glass shield between the two to keep people from dropping items onto the other train (phones,spit,gum..etc). Wouldn't want CP to be negligent would we?

^That would be cool. I would also like to see the first immelman on a flyer and both tracks come together similar to the vertical loops on Dueling Dragons with it. That would be neat too.
