Knotts Berry Farm lowers ticket prices

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Bucking current industry trends, Knott’s Berry Farm, part of the Cedar Fair family of amusement parks, announced today that they would be rolling back their adult admission price to $39.95 from its current price of $45. This new adult pricing mirrors the rollback that Knott’s introduced in 2002 with a cut in children’s pricing, and again in 2005 when senior pricing was dropped to $14.95.

"Cedar Fair’s CEO is sensitive to the fact that entertainment properties across the country are raising their prices, making a day at a theme park out of reach for the average consumer," said Cedar Fair’s COO, Jack Falfas. "In response to his concerns, Knott’s Berry Farm has decided to lower their adult admission rate and put a hold on any price increases on our food and beverage items

Yeah, that might just put the nail in the coffin of SFMM if they don't get their act together quickly.

They have a bad reputation as it is, and if they want to attract families they might not be able to.

Six Flags- $59.99
Disneyland- $59.99?
Knotts- $39.99

That spells problems for a company who has been catering to teens for 5 years who suddenly wants to get the family back. The park has a lot to offer, but if I'm a father with 2 kids and a wife I'm probably going to have just as much fun at Knotts than I would at Six Flags, not to mention I'd be saving near $75 bucks on tickets alone.

Disney World is $63 for one park/one day, and there's no way you can even compare Magic Kingdom to Magic Mountain.

Just an update Cedar Point has also lowered it's ticket prices significantly. Tickets at the gate are now $39.99 and tickets purchased online are only $35.99, that is probably the best theme park deal out there.

Cedar Fair realizes the changes at Six Flags, is in a interesting business move lowered there prices.

Who knows if this will be a good or bad move for them or not.

Only problem now is the still semi nice Knotts(though CF is working on that) with this price drop is going to attract all the gang bangers and riff raff that made SFMM such an awful place to go to with grafitti, trash, violence and so on.
