Time Zone Changes (for those traveling to IN parks)

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

For those who haven't been following the news, the time zone issue in Indiana has finally been resolved. The main issue with the time zones in Indiana was that during part of the year, ALL of Indiana was on the exact same time, while during the other part of the year some of the state was on Chicago time (Central) and the rest of the state was on Ohio (Eastern) time. With this new resolution passing, every county in Indiana will either ALWAYS be on Central/Chicago time OR will ALWAYS be on Eastern/OH time.

How might this effect your coaster travels in IN? Well...

Holiday World is going to remain on Central/Chicago time all year round. They will be on the same time all throughout the year as you Illinois & Wisconsin folks. However, despite wanting to be in the Central/Chicago time zone, Indiana Beach's county was denied that request and will be on Easter/Ohio time all year round. Unfortunately, this means one less hour of playing in the dark at IB. This also means Indy will be 1 hour ahead as well, of course.

So in summary:

HW: same time zone as Chicago/Wisc people (central)
IB: 1 hour ahead of Chicago/Wisc people (eastern)

Only NW IN & SW IN will be on Central time from now on.

Plan your trips accordingly and don't forget about the time difference and miss the first hour at IB. :)

last year on our way back from cedar point, we stayed in fort wayne and got screwed up because they DIDNT follow daylight savings time so we ended up there EARLY because they were the same time as central time. i heard they were gonna start following day light savings time this year

A furious storm once roared `cross the sea, catching ships in its path, helpless to flee. Instead of a certain and watery doom, the winds swept them here to Typhoon Lagoon!

Yeah, every last sunday in april and last sunday in october, we here, (1o miles-ish) from Notre Dame, have to chage clocks back or ahead.

Spring= 1 hour up on clock,
Fall= 1 hour back on clock,

Spring up or fall back, as school says.
