SFMM/KBF.....any tips?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Raging_Bull on December 27th, 2005, 3:55 pm
Well next saturday I'm making my first trip to California with my family...I'll have 1.5 days at SFMM and 2 at KBF so I'm excited about that. What I was wondering was if anyone who has been to either park has any general tips that will help me get the most out of my time there. What are the chances that X will be running during the wintertime? Should I go there first no matter what? Also..other than Flashback, what coasters at SFMM should I expect to be closed? Thanks for any help and/or advice...

Most likely Closed Coasters a SFMM,
Revolution should be closed
S:TE will probably run one side
Vu
X (possibly)
One side of Colossux

One train
Batman
Riddler's Revenge

Not to mention countless flat rides.

A bit odd...why Two at KBF and One at SFMM?

You could get a lot more done the other way around...

SFMM is only open on saturday and sunday, and we're getting in on saturday afternoon..so I'll go to the park for the end of that day and all day Sunday. KBF on the other hand is open everyday so that is much more flexible.

Your lucky, i wish I could go to SFMM and Knotts, have a good trip, and write a TR if you get a chance.
I'm running to Bull on opening day, anyone gets in my way and they'll get trampled.

Just seriously run first to X....
Youll have a better chance of riding it first before its too late due to breakdowns

Its the best coaster there, it really is different and "xtreme"....

OH...and do not miss out on Freefall. For me, it was the BEST RIDE overall at SFMM, I loved the airtime and anticipation.

This is from my Feb experience:

Get to SFMM directly @ open and instead of heading to X first, head to the back of the park first. scream, BTR,Riddlers,Deja Vu, Goliath and S:TE.

Judge the crowds.. Most likely hit X during lunch time, the wait when we went was about 45 minutes not too bad.

Viper was not running when we went but everything else was.

If they are open make sure to Hit these coasters:

SCREAM!
X
Riddlers Revenge
Goliath
Deja Vu
Superman The Escape

S:TE when I was there seemed to be only running 1/3 of the way up the tower, but i still think that ride is pretty decent :)

As for KBF:

XCELERATOR: If you've been on TTD you will like this ride a helluva lot more, I did and its great! Light crowds and usual 2 train ops will enable you to power ride this ride.

Silver Bullet: AKA Silver Boring, the ride is weak and in my opinion sucks. Ride that later on in the day.

You should be able to easily powerride everything at KBF with in the first 6 hours or so.

Hope your trip is good :D

I was just at Magic Mountain. Most of the rides were open. Even Deja Vu. All the ones on Sammuri Summit were closed. And Revolution...but for the most part, alot of rides were open.

^ Deja Vu when i was there ran very well, The thing that really was kinda interesting was they checked the seat belt and the OTSR at the same time, but the loading time was just as long if not longer then ours.

The single person line however was a joke, people in a group of 4-7 would line jump everyone else in line and that really made the wait longer.

Raging Bull-since your pressed for time maybe you should skip Dejavu if you've already rode it at sfgam since there the same. But if you have time to kill it would be interesting to see what the difference is. Just a pointer

Oh, and do not try to experience PSYCLONE
This coaster is so shakey and rough...it hurts so bad. Other people liked it but my family did not however, it truly is a pain.

Galvan, it seemed so much quicker when I went there. They were extremely effecient at checking both restraints at one time. The grouper also did a great job and the train left the station way quicker than our's ever did.
