Something going wrong on a ride

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby coasterkid94 on November 20th, 2005, 7:59 pm
What has been the worst thing that happend to you on a coaster??? I don't mean somebody barfed on you. I mean getting stuck for a long time etc. Once I was on a motion simulator and when it was upside down my harness released. It was pretty cool, thankfully it was like a video game and I was controlling it, so I got level pretty quickly.

This isnt bad, but when I was on Primeval Whirl at WDW the ride broke down when our car was just about to leave the station. I was mad because we had to get off.

On Deja Vu the girl behind me screamed the whole ride and didn't stop until she ran out of air, then screamed somemore and I couldn't hear for like 5 minutes. I know it's not that bad.

It's a debate between my rollback on Dragster, or being stuck on Deja Vu's second tower for around 10-15 minutes.

Well mines not bad, but its the only story I have. I got stuck on King Chaos, it was just about to flip for the first time and it just stopped. We were stuck for about 10-15 minutes. It was pretty cool though.

I don't think it is. I think King Chaos just gets the force to spin around. I'm not sure though, correct me if I'm wrong...

I hate it when people scream on rides, my worst time has to be going on this ride at a fair and being squished by my neighbor. Not really bad at all.

I do not think we would have gotten stuck upside down. It just stopped while it was raising up. If it were to go upside down it would have just spun until it slowed down back in the vertical position again.

Let's see, getting stuck for 30 minutes, then evac'd off of Bull.
Stuck on tower 1 in 2004 on Deja Vu for 20 minutes
Stuck on DD:Fire for 15 minutes after the ride.
Rollback on TTD, then stuck for 30 minutes after the second launch
Viper on the end block for 15 minutes in 90 degree heat.
Stuck on Cajun 3 different times in the same spot.

The only thing is, those were not scary or bad, but the worst, I never experienced it, but Jeff has, would be to ride Whizzer with Nick in the same seat.

Wow......coasters don't like you very much do they!!!! That's a lot for one coaster enthuseiust to deal with. Although stuck on tower 1 of Deja Vu would creep me out, I don't like how you feel like you are sliding out of your seat, at least if it was tower 2 it's a comfortable position.
Welcome to ShockWave please pull your harness down as far as it will go. While riding ShockWave please keep your hands and feet inside the car, and your head against the headrest, please hold on to all loose articles, especially hats and glasses. Enjoy your ride!

That isnt even all of them, those are probably the best ones, but I have been stuck for longer than 10 minutes about 20 times on about 16 different coasters.

The same thing happened to me last year.

I don't tend to have bad experiences on coasters usually, the only time I got stuck was on Vu and that was fun.

On carnival rides I tend to get sick if I eat right before going on the rides. One time I felt so miserable I thought I was going to pass out... my dad wasn't even there to help me either.

Do you remember what day it was when it happened because I was on a train in the station when this happened. I was there on 7/24/05

Wait a minute. So when you were on Top Thrill Dragster, it had a rollback and then launched again and you got stuck at the top?
It's green. It's blue. It's all over you! Enjoy your ride on Déjà Vu

Blacking out after hitting my head on the first drop of Batman, then awaken by the end of the zero-g roll

It was a bit freaky not remembering anything.

Got stuck on B:TR's lift in 2000 due to someone undoing their seatbelt. (10 minutes, night)
Stuck on S:UF's brake run. (5 minutes)
Stuck on Steel Venom(GL) on 1st launch. (5 minutes)
Got stuck on Bull's brake run. (10 minutes)

Got stuck on Eagle Red's brake run for 10 minutes because someone undid their seat belt too early and it got stuck between the car and the platform.

Got stuck on Great America Scenic Railroad for 15-20 minutes by Viper.

In 2001, I had a 35 minute ride on Collosus red train at Magic Mountain. For some reason, they were actually running all 3 trains that day  I went there for first dispatch. As we were nearing the top of the lift, I looked back and noticed that the 3rd train had not advanced yet. It still hadn't advanced when we got to the turnaround before the MCBR so I prepared for an abrupt stop. We were on the midcourse for about 15 minutes and the mechanic had to push the other train to the next block section. We then got stuck where the other train was for 15 minutes and our train also had to be pushed to the next block section. Since it was SFMM, we did not receive any compensation

Getting stuck on the batmans lifthill for a couple minutes with the harness kind of loose its a good thing i didnt fell off when the ride started again.
Raging bull platform for about 30 minutes. Getting my hair stuck at superman and had to pull it out after the ride reached the platform very painfull. Getting two big bruise on my shoulders from riding DeJa Vu because the operators put the harness to tight it squeezed my shoulders.

After a while of thinking I have decided that the worse thing that has happened to me on a ride was this....

Deja Vu...getting on the second to last train, my husband got up from his seat to put his hat and cell phone in the box, someone who got off the ride thought that the seat was empty and squeezed in past me to sit in it, after being told by my husband that the seat was taken, sqeezing back out, this time bending my knee in a direction God didn't intend, and then riding the coaster with a bum knee, and having to walk to the park exit.....

I wish something could go wrong on a ride with me, but only if I got something. I wouldn't like getting stuck for 30 minutes and not getting anything. I would be pretty mad!

Stuck in the "flying" position on Superman for a half hour in the station.

Mis-launch or w/e on V2 for 5 minutes.

Bull's lift for a few minutes

AEB's lift for 10 minutes

I think thats it.
