Why so bad?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Why is Sfmm the worst park in the six flags chain? They have 17 coasters and over a 100 rides.

I cant see it being the worst park because I have a video of it and they say it does pretty good and thats how it gets all those coasters.

A lot of people trash the park because they say it is dirty and because they can't keep their rides open. If they are not broken down, they have one vehicle running. Over the summer, even rides like Riddler's Revenge were running one train and the Observation Tower was broken down. How does that brake down? Msoeagle is not saying that it is the worst, he is wondering why people trash it and that is why.

If a coaster is able to run 1 or more trains why not run it like that?

When a coaster runs 1 train, the lines take longer than when it runs 2 or more trains. The only good reason to run one train is if there's no line at all, like all day.

Ditto. I agree completely with you all. That's why I'm not going in there anytime soon.

Just to clean up the park is not enough. Six Flags needs to get their act together and run two or more trains on their operating rides, and DO SOMETHING to the rides that aren't operating. Either gut them or fix them up. Just do something and don't sit there on your tail! That's one reason why customer service is so low there, or so I've heard.
R.I.P. Splashwater Falls and Space Shuttle America. Deja Vu, enjoy Idaho.

When I was there, they had like 30 rides open in the entire place, and most coasters had 1 train running. I noticed there was litter all over, and the employees (most of them) were not very friendly.

Since, SFMM is my homepark I guess I can understand why people think it's the worst Six Flags park. While I still love the place, I can't deny that it has terrrible operations, they CANNOT handle crowds at all, too many rides down, and yes it is somewhat dirty & run down. It isn't like trashcans overflowing everywhere dirty, it's just everything else like dirty: stations, bathrooms, querails, quepaths, midways, dirty coaster trains, etc. everything feels like it's never been cleaned in my opinion. I have to say the park is making a huge turnaround this year, there have been fewer 1 train ops, and much refurbishment going on. Oh and 100 rides? SFMM doesn't have close to that! The problem with it is basically, the Six Flags corporate office doesn't give them the money they need to be able operate that well. They get a tiny operating/maintenance budget that doesn't allow for all the rides to operate in the year sadly. The park wants to do things to make it better but the fools in Oklahoma won't give them the money that they need. I think it has many faults, but it still in my opinion isn't the worst SF park. And have you heard the saying "Quality over Quantity" well that's also just that, the park is full of mediocre rides, with the only spectacular ones being X, Deja Vu, Riddler's Revenge.

Yes, When I went there was alot of one train ops, and it was a bit dirty.
The rides that ran the best those two days were...
Goliath-nice speed and first drop, although we hated its seating :?
X-my favorite coaster there...just amazing.
Freefall-my favorite ride there.
These were the most reliable, even Viper wasnt that bad either.

I went to SFMM on a day that the park wasnt that busy so the park being dirty wasnt a problem. But they had alot of rides that were not operating at all and some like riddlers revenge ran with 2 trains, but they only were seating people in one of the trains which caused a much longer line that it should have been. Few rests. were open and for it being Dec. they had no x-mas atmsophere at all except for a medicore x-mas tree.
I thought the park security was overbearing(not that i blame them but it detracts from the atmosphe/enjoyment of the park). And by mid-day you had alot of teenagers running amok being profane/skipping & smoking in lines etc which was much worse than i see at SFGAM.
I had a decent day at the park but whilethey have more rides than SFGAM, i would take our park over it any day and if what i read is true it only gets MUCH worse the busier the park gets. I found Knotts to be much more enjoyable and more family friendly than SFMM is.

I never been to mm but i've seen sfga dirty and probably every sf parks too had the same problem the bathrooms were dirty, garbage cans were full and litter everywhere. But its not the parks faults sometimes some of the customers they vandalise the park throw garbage anywhere without any care at all employees just try to keep up as for rides mm gets more rides because they have a bigger land than sfga and we get rides close at sfga too including specially v2 and dejavu, eagle and maitaining rides at a park for sf probably cause them millions a season so their better off shuting it down than loosing all that money that they could use to pay their employees and hopefully make park improvements and satisfy every customers needs and concern.

^^Well SFMM security has to be tough, the park attracts a rough L.A. gang crowd. They bring guns, knives, and other weapons to the park and there have been a few fatal fights in it's history before the metal detectors came. That's why they now have a L.A. county Sherrif sub station there and Metal Detectors. Anyway, they do a great job even though it's tedious our safety is their priority. Also, I agree with you about having more fun at Knott's. I like Knott's more because it has a better atmosphere still has some good theming (although Cedar Fair keeps removing more and more sadly) and excellent rides.

I agree that customers do make alot of messes and dont clean up, but it is the parks responsibility to make sure the park is clean and garbage cans arent overflowing and too have the proper amount of emplyees working to clean up with garbage.
I do realize that SFMM gets a rougher crowd and needs the security, but with so much of it visible it detracts from a decent atmosphere and even with it i know my wife didnt feel at all comfortable in the park with the tenages actions and the heavy security presence.
