Sorry if there's already a topic about this (I couldn't find one):

Six Flags Over Georgia 2006: A GIANT in the Making

August 29, 2005

The Skyline at Six Flags Over Georgia is about to change in a GIGANTIC way.
Stay tuned as the park prepares to make its biggest announcement in three decades...

###

September 1 is tomorrow, stay tuned for what's coming. Biggest announcement in 3 decades. Maybe a new themed area?

This announcement is most likely referring to the coaster Goliath, which is being talked about a few topics down the page. SFOG's announcement should make it official, though.

Hah I got the announcement before I left for school:

http://www.sixflags.com/parks/overgeorg ... ATH_A.html

It's smaller than many people expected being only 200 feet tall and a first drop of only 170 feet. Top speed of 70 MPH. The cool thing is that it does infact cross the highway twice and over a lake once. Should be a good coaster and it's what SFOG has needed for years now.

This may sound like a dumb question, but would it still count as a hyper-twister even if the drop is not 200ft. tall?

it's still a hyper since the lift is 200ft. A hyper is any coaster with a lift OR drop of 200ft or greater.

I personally thought we'd see something more like Nitro, a little bigger but this still looks cool.

Apollo's Chariot + Nitro = Goliath

Traffic might be stopped going into the parking lot just looking at the ride in the front. Plus the coaster will be traveling over vehicles. Sweet!!!! :)

only thing that seems strange is that it is 3.5 minutes (so they say) but it only has 2 trains, and no MCBR. I guess this will make for a better ride but it's capacity will be nowhere near Bull's.

Nope. It is just like the Eagle "highway". Cars used to be able to enter the other way inside the park, and drive under it. When people get into the park, they can either go through the back lot or the front lot. When I was last there, the back lot was cheaper, while the front lot was being used as the premium pass parking. So, the rollercoaster, will be over the street (not a "real highway") getting into the back lot.

Hopefully, you can see the street in this picture.

Looks awesome but still doesnt top ragingbull. When will SFGAM get a bigger ride then ragingbull?!?!? Good for SFOG though, they got a long awaited hyper coaster.
I'm running to Bull on opening day, anyone gets in my way and they'll get trampled.

We can argue all day about how we dont need a coaster taller than Raging bull or w can think of how sweet it would be to have one. We might not need one, but it would be a nice addition.

Goliath is focused on airtime. It'll definatley give that and itll be something nice and new...the paint scheme is a bit odd- the top of the spine and rails are silver/grey while the bottom and the supports are just the same as Goliath at SFMM. YES I do agree that it would be nice to have something like a giga for example, but Raging bull is doing great!

The thing I dont understand is, Great Gasp has to go, but a bathroom in the way of the first drop is saved, shortening the first drop.

Though I guess there is not much that can be done about it.

Oh yeah, there is Six Flags being all original again. Goliath.

Then of course they are retarded so they only run two trains, so the lines are going to be horrendous, especially during it's opening season. Even with that it's going to be one amazing ride, and it's going to bring in the money.
Eh, what's up?

It may not be original but its big enough so....I guess it deserves its name.
I overestimated this ride with all the different rumors going around. Its full of airtime, height, and speed though...Plus its a B&M so its going to be good :)

Capacity shouldnt be to bad, it will fit into the park just fine capacity wise. There really isnt that much difference between 2 and 3 trains, especially on such a short ride, also for 3 trains a block brake is needed which breaks up the action.
