Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Why does Cedar Fair have Snoopy as their Mascot? I understand why Six Flags has Mr. Six but why Snoopy (for Cedar Fair)?

I don't get the connection between Cedar Fair & the Peanuts Gang....like, SF is obvious.... Six Flags owned by Time Warner/AOL, WB, Bugs Bunny...but I don't see that with Cedar....

Uh...Six Flags isn't owned by AOL Time Warner (It's not Time Warner/AOL). It just has lots of Licensing. (sp?)

Snoopy came from Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America And Knotts Berry Farm. I believe Knotts had a contract to use them. When CF purchased Knotts they also purchased the rights to use the Peanuts Gang.

Thanks, I knew I screwed up the AOL name thing...I get it.. SF only has rights to use the WB characters, etc...gotta be the same with the Peanuts at Cedar Fair then.

If that's true, then why did Knotts has the rights of Peanuts?

Maybe they wanted them. When you've already used up all the Disny Character, all the Looney Tunes, And all the Hanna-Barbera Characters, you start to run out of options.

But it's kinda weird seeing cute little Snoopy next to a 420 ft, 120 m.p.h World Record Breaking Roller Coaster.

Kind of Like it's weird seeing a giant yellow canery standing under a big sign that says "Raging Bull"

(For those of you who didn't get that I was referring to tweety)

We have kids areas and not-kids areas. So (Or so i hear) does CP, and other CF owned Propoties. I don't understand the issue.

What's a theme park without cartoon characters? They're an absolute necessity!

You don't see the issue because there is not issue. All I'm wondering is: Why Snoopy? Why not something made up like (this is an example. No need to comment on this): Mr. Point

Why are you comparing Snoopy with CF to Mr. Six with SF?

Mr. Six was created for the advertising aspect for SF. It has become an icon so to speak for SF but in no way is it the mascot.

The mascot for SF continues to be Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes just like CF's mascot is Snoopy and the Peanuts characters.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

Interesting story from screamscape.

"Screamscape has been informed about a rather interesting pickle that the park’s owners have gotten themselves in. Long before Cedar Fair bought Knott’s Berry Farm, Camp Snoopy opened as Knott’s Camp Snoopy in the early 90’s. I believe Knott’s had the management contract to run the park as well as giving the new park not only the Knott’s name, but also the rights to use Snoopy and the other Peanuts characters in their park, something that Knott’s had the exclusive rights for in North America. When Cedar Fair bought Knott’s in the late 90’s, they re-negotiated the Peanuts character deal they inherited to allow for the characters to be used at all of the other Cedar Fair parks. Now for some reason a couple of years ago the “Knott’s” name from dropped from the park which simply became Camp Snoopy from then on. Now flashback to January 2004 when new owners have taken control of the Mall of America and have decided to terminate the Cedar Fair management contract for Camp Snoopy a year early to save themselves some coin. Even without Cedar Fair involvement, the Peanuts characters were allowed to stay in the park through the old contract that dated back to the Knott’s days when the park opened. Now lets jump to 2005 and apparently this is the rumored year that Camp Snoopy’s contract to use the Peanuts characters runs out, which makes sense since the Cedar Fair management contract should also have been up for renewal this year as well.
Cedar Fair now has the ball in their court it seems as the mall is trying to negotiate a new contract to continue to use the Peanuts characters when it would probably be in Cedar Fair’s best interest to turn them away and use the characters at nearby Valleyfair instead unless the mall is willing to pay through the nose. Sounds like the new owners of the Mall of America made an incredibly short sighted decision last year when they terminated the Cedar Fair contract. You just don’t take a baseball bat to a beehive and then come back and ask for some honey. We’ll have to wait and see how this plays out. "

OMG you guys. I told you it was an example. I was trying to point out that why didn't they create their own mascot like Six Flags did.

Well actually SF mascot is Looney Tunes, just like Mickey Mouse with Disney. Mr. Six is just a spokesperson for SF and I wouldnt consider it being their, how can I say this, mascot. In a way, yes it is, but SF started out with Bugs Bunny and his Looney Tunes Pals, not Mr. Six. He is just an advertisemnt move that boosted sales and got SF more popular . So technically its their spokesperson.

Snoopy in Cedar Fair is kind of weird, why? Well, Mickey Mouse is Disney. Looney Tunes is Warner Bros. And Snoopy is? But it attracts people like me, I grew up with Snoopy, fun stuff dude :D

Snoopy's awsome and funny but why is he Cedar Fair's mascot?

Also, when ever you look at sign or something at SFGAm, you don't see Looney Tunes anymore (well, sometimes) you mostly see Mr. Six.

Get over it drkstarboard.... Its called marketing. Why are there company decals on the side of racecars? Why is the park that the brewers play in miller park... why is U.S. Cellular field U.S. Cellular field? Why is he sears tower the SEARS tower. Why Is Great America ...Six Flags Great America.

Six Flags is Great Americas(along with every other SF parks) logo.. .not mr. Six

Snoopy is not only Cedar Points mascot but rather all of Cedar Fairs parks.

Are you going to start a "why six flags topic" too... because I can explain that one also

Get over it Timmy...It's called a question. I'm asking why Cedar Fair's mascot. maybe you should think before you post. How you became the member spotlight guy, I don't know.

To answer your questions Timmy,

The company decals on the side of the reace cars are called: sponsers.

The Brewers play at Miller Park because that is their field. Miller helped pay for the building of Miller Park so that is why it is called Miller Park

Same with U.S Cellular Field

Same with the Sears Tower
