Holiday World "to take you on a Voyage" in 2006

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Galvan on July 13th, 2005, 12:05 pm
Over the last several months, there has been a lot of prep work going on around Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN. The park has been keeping everybody up to date with hints on their website blog (Holiblog), but until today the only information to be had was the final price. 13.5 Million!

That all changed today as Holiday World held a press conference to announce it’s plans for 2006. Here is the breakdown:

New Land - Thanksgiving!
Holiday World’s expansion plans are so big that they need a whole new area to contain them. Thanksgiving will join 4th of July, Halloween, and Christmas as Holiday World’s 4th Themed area.

New Coaster - "The Voyage"
Built by The Gravity Group, The Voyage will be a unique wooden coaster that will feature many "top of it’s class" elements including:

The world’s top "air-time" wooden coaster
Air-time of 24.2 seconds
Track length: 6,442 feet (1.2 miles)
Maximum speed: 67.4 mph
Five underground tunnels
173 feet tall, with drops of 154, 107 and 100 feet
Three 28-passenger PTC trains
2 min., 45 sec. ride time
Eight underground traverses
Two 90-degree extreme banked turns
First drop’s angle of descent a U.S. record: 66 degrees
Among the world’s top three longest and fastest wooden coasters

Other new attractions will include Bahari River, an interactive "dark ride," another new ride, large restaurant, shop, games and more.

Wow

Its always nice when a smaller park can spend 6.5mil and build what looks to be a more thrilling ride than what the bigger chains build for a lot more money.

:Starts preparing trip to HW in '06:
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.

All I can say is Holiday World Road Trip '06. That thing is so long, and so amazing. Those are some long lasting 90 degree banks! Though they had to kill the record for incline by one degree?

Worth the gas money.

My lord! I just watched the video and that really gives The Beast a run for its money. I think the deciding factor will be is if it turns out like Son of Beast where it was just way too fast for a wooden coaster causing a really rough ride. But with PTC trains, I highly doubt this could be too rough.

No words can describe how awsome this coaster looks. So far, I think woodies like this will be the next generation of wooden coasters, especially sence Hades was extreamily successful. Welll I'm looking forward to taking the Voyage next year, it'll be one of the coaster's I'm looking forward to the most next year, aswell as GADv's woodie and the Patriot (I know it's not an woodie but it's another chance for B&M to build a intence coaster).

Does Raven and Legend have trims or MCBRs?

This coaster will be insane. I have to make a trip there next summer, I JUST HAVE TO!
Eat your heart out GADv cause this 06' woodie has your 06' woodie beat completely.

V2MGA: Terms of coasters, I don't think that will happen.
This is where I would usually put stuff. Can't think of anything right now... =/

I will make this observation: the layout is pretty basic. I'm sure the riding experience will be awesome but this isn't some revolutionary coaster, just an out and back woodie. :|
