Magic Mountain questions

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

Hey everyone,

Just found out that I'll be taking a trip out to Cali Aug. 5-10. We'll be staying in the San Francisco area, but I'm going to do my best to find a way to make it up to MM for a day or two. If anyone knows, I'm looking to find out approximately how long of a drive it is (in terms of miles, hours, etc) from SF to Valencia. I'm also wondering whether or not there is any kind of train or rail service that would be a better alternative than driving. Lastly, I've heard that certain rides tend to close for maintenance and rehab certain days of the week. If I want to better my odds of getting on X, are there any days that I should avoid? Thanks in advance for your help in answering these questions. If any of you have any insight into how I can make this trip as enjoyable as possible, don't hesitate to share them.

Magic Mountain is quite a drive. Depending on traffic it can be upwards of a FIVE HOUR drive. Magic Mountain is located near Los Angeles.

If you are staying in San Fran. Area, then why not go to Paramounts Great America? It's only about an hour drive south of San Fran. Being that it used to be Six Flags Great Americas sister park, you can see how things have changed, or how they are different.

Might be fun.

As long as you don't go on a Wednesday your odds of getting on X are pretty good. Just don't expect to ride all 16 coasters there in one day though since they have never all been running on the same day before.

The drive is around 7 hours. I make the trip from torrence to stockton every summer, and its 8.5 hours when we stop for lunch at harris ranch.

From San Fran and depending on traffic (California Roads Suck) it's somewhere between 6-7.5 hours to Valencia. If you need to, use mapquest.com

Thanks for the info everybody. Well, there's no way I'm going to be hitting the Mountain. That's just too far away. Maybe I'll try to hit up one of the closer parks, as some of you suggested. Thanks for the tips anyhow.

you could always try for the other SF park in Cali, SFMW. it is in norCal as well as PGA and if you are a season pass holder you will get into it for free.

When I was in San Francisco last October we went out to SFMW. IT's really underrated. But, also realy confusing to get around at Night.

By the way: Their FF decorations sucked, but their characters were amazing. the Makeup was well done and it was really scary! Not that ours aren't. It's just we've had the same characters over and over again for like three years. It's time for some new Ideas.

I'm going out there too the week after the 4th of july. I was trying to get to as many parks as possible, but a lot of them are spread out. Knott's and SFMM are only 1 hour apart, so I'm gunna hit those. We might fly up to washington on the way there, so I might go to Enchanted Village to go on thunderhawk.

Question:

What goofy ass airline are you flying that would go from Chicago to Washigton State then on to LA?
