Has anyone here ever had a one click ride and if not that, something close to that? Also what is everyone opinion on one click rides?
I think that one click rides are dangerous on some rides, depending on the row in some cases. I have gotten a two click ride on Raging Bull, but I pulled it down after we were half way up the lift, so I guess it doesn't count. It's good not to risk it I guess. On wooden coasters I usually try to have about 2-6 inches of room between my lap and the lapbar.
I think it's stupid, and I think alot of enthusiast try to much to get too much room between them and the restraint. The restraints are there for a reason and if not used properly can result in the rider getting tossed. As was the case on The Raven at Holiday World during a enthusiast event.
Ive also seen some ride ops give people 1 or 2 click rides, and I don't really get why they do it. I don't know if it's because they know the person or not, but if that person gets thrown then it's basically all thier fault for not checking the restraint properly.
I generally get one click rides(or equivlent in Eagles case), but I'm a larger person, I could get 2 though, 3 is pusing it on Viper. Alittle room is good, but when there is feet of space between you and the lapbar, then it starts to get needlessly high. (not to say I havent had my share of 1 and 0 click rides on certin rides where it was probably against my better judgement but there was no complaint from ride ops (though generally the rides I'd get that on were not open to the public)

For the fact that I go so many times during the season and put myself at a POSSIBLE risk I make sure that thing is down as far as possible. Except Viper or Eagle but it's still more then a 1 click ride. Just a little room to move
It's one of those, "caught in the moment" deals for me. Sometimes I will sometimes I wont. Usually it wont be up to much, but just enough to still give me that pop of airtime.
Most ride ops won't allow it. Cyclops at Mt. Olympus has lapbars that are the basic equivilent to a one click ride (on that ride you will actually want your seatbelt on tightly) and I've had a 1 click ride on Viper during a buyout. (Ride op didn't care)

I will leave about 3 inches above my lap (about 2 clicks) but anymore I just don't feel comfortable. Enthusiasts have a responsibility too. I don't know of many other enthusiast communities (Aviation, pyrotechnics, storm chasing) who intentionally put themselves in needless danger. I don't under stand why enthusiasts always feel the need to risk it. It's like a skydiver jumping out of an airplane with just one arm in the parachute.
Think before you act, because if you get injured, you give the ENTIRE coaster enthusiast community a bad name.
Usually I follow the same rule, 2-3inches above my lap.
Lakeside Cyclone in Denver, CO is the only exception. It doesn't have a lap bar. It only has a loose leather strap with a clip hook. It also has a bar on the car in front of you to hang on to. My friend and I tried to ride it hands up, but that idea quickly got scuttled on the first drop
It's the most fun in the park when your laughing in the dark.
Today at SFGAm, I might have single-handedly seen the stupidest thing to happen on Viper. A teenager, a few rows ahead of me, was nearly standing up throughout the entire ride, trying to hit each one of the metal bars. Then he comes off the ride saying that he was "scared." I bet he was.
I did a few one click ride on eagle last year. I even stood up, that was so fun. I know my limits, there are seatbelts also. Ahh, that takes me beck standing and falling backward...
I think the seatbelt's on coasters are doing the oppisiate thing that they are supposted to do. When there are seatbelt's people are more prone to try for the one click ride because of the added saftey of the seatbelt. I know I wouldn't try to get a one click ride on Viper without the seatbelt. That's just dumb.

I must start off by saying... I'm sorry... I'm not usually like this but...
"I even stood up, that was so fun."
What in the heck were you thinking?? To actually stand up on a roller coaster?!?! It's like that kid that was hanging his hand down when Viper came into the station a few years ago and got his fingers or whole hand (I don't remember) cut off and they tried to sue the park. Come on people just follow the rules!! I was very glad to see that the park didn't have to pay a penny! If you are actually standing on a roller coaster all it will take is one slide of the foot to mess up your balance and then what? You won't know your limitations then.
^ I definitely agree....even I wouldn't go that far and I've been known to do some crazy stuff - i.e., suggest a backwards ride on the Raging Bull...probably impossible, I'm sure....I just wouldn't go so far as to stand up like that....
Standing up is dangerous on rides. Expecially on coaster with headchopper affects or close supports at the bottom of drops. I've seen someone stand up on AER and I was thinking of reporting him.
AER - American Eagle Regular?? versus AEB - American Eagle Bkwd
RB - Raging Bull
BTR - Batman the Ride
IMS - Ice Mountain Splash
S:UF - Superman Ultimate Flight
IW - Iron Wolf
KC - King Chaos
