Why no Metal Detecters @ Cedar Point

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

I was amazed. Walking up to the gate on that dead Monday morning to see no Metal Dectors of any kind. no gaurds or wands or nothing. just a friendly hello, swip ticket and have a nice day at Cedar Point.

Talk about feeling unsafe, but quickly forgot about it.

Anyone know why they choose to be this open

Thats because CP has there own police force with guns, unlike SF Security guards.

That's really not the case Mike. All the Cedar Fair parks don't have metal detectors and not all of their parks have their own police force. On top of that, even though SFGAm doesn't have their own police, the Gurnee officers are always canvassing the park.

Having the metal detectors is something that Six Flags and Paramount decided to implement in all of their parks.
I finally retired the Sarah Palin signature because she is now 100% irrelevant.

I wouldn't feel unsafe if Six Flags didn't have metal detectors. If someone REALLY wanted to get a gun into the park, then they would have no problem trying. But then again, I guess I trust people to be good people.

One thing I have noticed with CP is that security is much much more promient than anything I've seen at Six Flags. Also, many of CP's officer's travel in groups of 2.

That and we can call security on anything we see, and they will come quickly, a lot quicker than maintenance. :)

Maybe it's because it's early in the year and they're training or something but I've seen quite a few instances of the SFGAm security officers traveling in pairs in my visits so far this season.

Agree. However, I do know that it fishes out the pocketknives, etc. that people unintentionally try to carry in with them. I'd be much more comfortable knowing that the guy next to me on RB or any coaster isn't armed with any weapon.
