Is it easy? I did it once before, with one of my best friends when I was like 11. I don't really remember it that much though. It wasn't really hard to get her on the coasters, probably because she wasn't really so afraid. I guess it just depends on the person. But my boyfriend is possibly going with me to SFGAm this Sunday, and he said that most roller coasters scare him, mainly the ones that have inversions.
Ah yes, is this going to be a fun day, trying to get my boyfriend on my most favorite coasters. I'm not going to force him though if he doesn't want to ride a certain ride or something. I think it's fun getting someone into riding roller coasters, it was fun with my best friend. The good thing is, he's saying he won't be as scared as long as I'm with him.
Do you know why he's afraid of them? You could always tell him that the rides are perfectly safe, and thousands of people ride them every day without any problems.

I used this line with my nephew all the time when I was 1st starting to get him into coasters. I always would tell him "if anything would happen I will be right there with you and you don't think I would ride it if I thought it was unsafe do you??"
Advice, Trick Him! Tell him you're really going somewhere else. It ocassionally works, by the time he's realized it. He'll just go on it because he's probably wasted 5-10min of line time.
That's how I got on the Demon. And now It has to be one of my favorite coasters.

And more people injure themselves using toothpicks every year than getting injured on an amusement ride.
You best plan of attack would be this. 1. Whizzer 2. Viper or American Eagle 3. Demon
After those three, then you can try something larger like Raging Bull or Iron Wolf.
Yeah, I was planning on hitting those four first. I don't think he's really afraid of getting hurt, they might just freak him out or something. I'm not sure. I don't think it will be too hard to get him on most of the coasters. It should be fun.
punkbunny- I should probably say that to him if he feels a ride is unsafe in any way. Good one
I do have a question though. He has a minor heart problem, one valve is smaller than it should be, I believe. Would it be safe or not for him to ride with this condition? He's ridden some roller coasters before, but didn't really have any problem.
Basically get them on a ride and you/they will find out pretty fast if they like it or not. Usually people that were forced onto rides they didnt want to ride as kids will generally stay away from rides for the rest of their lives. So it's best not to force anyone, can trick someone, but they are bound to realize sooner or later what they are getting on, and if they dont want to ride, it's best not to force the issue.
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder Favorite Steel: Voltron Nevera, Steel Vengeance, Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping Parks visited: 232, Coasters Ridden: Steel: 894, Wood: 179, Total: 1073
you could ask him to come in line with you and say he can walk through, then when you get to the station say "youve already waited this long so why just walk through?" its not forcing him its giving him an option to ride.

I also have a heart arythmia (murmur) that I was born with. I used to be on medications when I was little but I am not anymore. I do have "episodes" sometimes of irregular heartbeating and it is SCARY! I recommend he see his doctor 1st because when I went to my doctor she listened to my breathing and heart beat and I even had to wear a event monitor for 30 to track the seriousness of my problem as an adult. My doctor did give me the ok to ride coasters but just told me to be aware of how I felt at the parks. If I wake up and feel any kind of palpatations at all I stay clear of the park that day!! So it all depends on how serious his problem is and how often they come.

If he has a heart problem, you should probably get him to call his doctor just to be safe.

If the doctor does give him the okay, just tell him to look at the people's faces when they come off the coasters. Many people aren't upset (crying) when they come off of one. They are usually happy.
Otherwise, give him the sappy "Can you do this for me?" If he doesn't like them (rollercoasters), don't force him to come back if that's all your going to do at the park. Good luck.
Obviously, talk to a doctor. My brother has something (not sure what it's called) where one chamber pumps an extra beat, so it is pumping with no blood in it. He can ride coasters just fine. I think the sign is more for people who have had 3 heart attacks in the past 12 months. If you're scared easily and heart attacks result, don't ride. Kind of like the strobe light warnings before a stunt show.
^^We used to do that with my little brother. Its the only way we were able to get him on anything bigger than Demon. Now he's ridden every coaster except Deja Vu and V2. I don't know anyone else who's been through V2's station so many times and sill hasn't ridden the ride
We went for my 8thgrade class trip... my VERY FIRST rollercoaster. i made my group FORCE me onto a rollercoaster. force is the only way for me.... now i love rollercoasters.
Well on the 7th (june) im going, and im gonna try and get one of my friends on dejavu and v2 (the only two she hasnt been on) and if I succeed with her they im gonna try and get her boyfriend on a coaster lol, that will be fun (last year for our class trip he went on jesters wild ride 105 times with his friends, it was all he would ride). In his words, the rides are 'too big and scary.' this will be a fun day hehe

This is a good point. There are people out there where force is the only way they'll do something. My cousin is like that. She's ridden every coaster at GAm, but we had to force her on every one, even thought she loves them once she rides them.
Back before my time my mom told me one of her dates talked her into riding Shock Wave. She didnt like it to much, the only rides she will ride are Whizzerd, Superman, Batman, and Demon.
Top Thrill Dragster- One of the tallest and fastest roller coasters
OK...now, don't all laugh at once....I never set foot on a coaster until I was in my 20's. Probably 22 or 23. My friends talked me into skipping work one day and we went out to G A....They're all telling me, "It's not that bad...you'll be fine." as they're pulling me through the queue....I've got health problems of my own. I was born with hydrocephalus (English = water on the brain) so I was a little leary...doctor told me "NO DIVING" in high school, I wanted to join the swim team. So I knew coasters was out of the question. Long story short -- being dragged on them worked for me. Now, they can't get me off of them. I'm completely obsessed. I tell you, the doc would freak if he knew! I don't care...I would not trade the thrill for ANYTHING!
Last saturday our useful method for getting our friend onto GD was to tell him that if he didn't go on we would each grab one of his arms and force him into the chair and then another person would pull the harness down. It worked pretty well.
Nah...I would just rather have fun living life than be worried about my health. I've been riding coasters for at least 5 years now and I feel fine. I'm not one to live my life based on my disabilities. I mean, how much fun would that be???
