Has anyone noticed how they changed Rocket Coasters to Accelorator coasters on rcdb? Why did they change the type?

Dont know? Accelerator coasters and rocket coasters are the same thing. Rcdb is a great website but those little things are not that big of a deal. Maybe its because they administrator of the webpage noticed ever body was saying accelorator instead of rocket coaster, therefore more people would know what they ment by accelerator.

If you look at Intamin's products, that's what they are calling the Rocket coasters. So that pretty much explains it.

I noticed that too. They probably did it because the first accelerator coaster was TTD, and it went really fast and very high so they called it rocket. But now there are some accelerator coasters that don't go as high, like Rita Queen of Speed and Storm Runner.

The first rocket was Xcellerator...So clearly that's not the case....

According to Intamin's latest promotional materials they are still called Rocket Coasters. (unlesss I picked up an outdated brochure, which is possible I suppose)
Favorite Wood Coasters: The Voyage, Ravine Flyer II, Thunderhead, Balder

The term "Accelerator" is much more popular amongst European enthusiasts. "Rocket Coaster" is very popular in North America. The only reason is probably that Accelerator is a more recent term, and Rocket Coasters didn't come to Europe until recently.
