I just heard on the news something happened and they had to rescue riders. I can't find any articles on it right now... I'll post one when I find one.

edit: nothing serious happened, but here's the article...

Thanks. (not)

How come there always happens to be a topic about a ride I am going to be riding in the next few days?

Well, that's pretty bizarre, I bet it goes down for Annual Maintaince shortly :)

Sounds like a block stop, but the first car overshot the block. I have been on a train on Hulk when there is a block stop and that time the entire train was will within the catwalk up there, though alas, no Evac, got going again after 10 or so minutes :)

It's good that it didn't overshoot a block in the station, otherwise it could have been a crash.

Obviously there's no details as to what happened, but there is one point of concern:

If there really was an emergency, would the 4 riders in front be stranded? I would hope that the entire train stays in the block during a stop.

My guess is that the brakes engaged after the train was already in the block, or it wouldn't have reopened so soon.

As long as everyone is okay, and that the ride is operating swell in March, I think I'll be good. I get to go there in March... :D

Ah, I have a bad feeling about this for some reason. I normally take these things as a grain of salt, however. maybe there's something inevidently wrong.

Here is what happened oficially....

there was a normal block stop, maintaince responed and didnt find any problems, so they released the train and a computer glitch locked up the brakes again after the train had rolled forwards a few feet putting the front car past the edge of the evac platform. With the front car now outside of the block brake, there is nothing at all they could do to get the train rolling again (well they can but can be a very lengthy process), so they evac'd everyone they could, and they had to wait for a bucket truck to arrive to evac the people in the front row which was hanging over the edge of the drop. So really, nothing really major, just ended up being a really slow new day.

It does give our old PR person, Susie Story* an extra headache though fielding all kinda of media questions and dealing with bad press. :)

*For anyone who doesnt know, Susie Story left PR at SFGAm for a PR job at the Universal Orlando Resort.

Yeah, I saw looked for her at the park while I was there, but didn't see her.

And for all you worriers. The Hulk was indeed back in operation running 2 trains at times.(The third was in pieces next to the break run.)
