It is very hard to decide, but I'll have to say wooden. I guess i like them for all the same reasons as sixflagsguy5... I love the airtime. I kinda also like the roughness, as long as it's not jack-hammer-like. After all, my #1 coaster ever is the Beast...
*Jason, who "always loves a good woodie!" (er, that was bad )
Steel, although wooden comes in close. Steel just has more elements, and there are many different types of steel coasters. I love woodies though because of the airtime and great hills some have.
There were 3 plastic coasters built that all carried riders (though one had a horrific accident on it's opening day, resulting in a weight limit being enforced that ensured basically no adult rider could ride anymore).
and BTW, I perfer wood by a fairly large margin. They tend to be far more unique rides, with each one having it's own personality.

no there arent any plastic coasters ...lol......well any way..... i would choose both ... if that WAS an option..... wooden coasters do give you a fair amount of air time and there is so much you can do with steel coasters......so , thats why I would choose both.....
I agree that wooden roller coasters have much much more personality. My favorite coaster is the Beast so...I guess I would have to go with wood then. I think if they made steel coasters were a lot more like wood it would be very interesting. I mean inversions are great, but when they are over-used they really lose their affect.
There was one plastic coaster(PVC technically), they were made by a company called Bailey, called an Auto Sled, after a few years of operation it was retrofitted with steel rails and all other ones they built were steel railed (all the cars were plastic though)
It's actually steel instead of steal, but on with the topic. Considering that steel coasters overwhelm wooden coasters, I would have to say steel. In other words, I enjoy many more steel coasters than wooden.
The reason why is because I have a formula that deals with wooden coasters, and not particulary with steel. I want high rough drops with little turning. Many wooden coasters don't succeed in this (at least the ones I've ridden). Also, there is the fact that there are more steel coasters than wooden such as SFGAm, SFStL, SFOG, and so on.
"I've been staring at the world, waiting. All the trouble and all the pain we're facing. Too much light to be livin' in the dark. Why waste time? We only got one life. Together we can be the CHANGE. So go and let your heart burn bright"
Steal only because there is a lot more elements for steal coasters, but i still love them woodies, (wooden rollercoasters, not the other thing all you sick people are thinking about, lol)
Out of Colorado in the Piston home red blue and white tonight the 6'3 Chauncey BA....BA....BA.....Bilups!
Viper is a Mirror Image of the Coney Island Cyclone, with the turns banked, and the drops had about 10+ degrees taken off them to make it alittle easier on families.
Georgia Cyclone and Texas Cyclone are closer copies, and Psyclone at SFMM is similar to Viper, just cheaply cuilt and poorly maintained.
In the end though, each one is unique in it's own way.

Wooden coasters, I can't vote for something that isn't speeled write.
Besides, with woodies the ride is different every time. It can be really smooth sometimes and ultra bumpy others. I'm getting sick of raging bull because its the exact same every single time.
What you don't understand you can make mean anything.
^ I kind of feel the same about Raging Bull. It's probably the coaster I've ridden the most, and sometimes it's not as exciting as last time I went on it. It's still really awesome though.
