MIA Adds new "Funnel of Fear" in 2005

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Galvan on December 15th, 2004, 4:34 pm
You can now add Cedar Fair's Michigan's Adventure to the growing number of parks adding Proslide Tornado Rides.

miadventure.com doesnt really discuss much on the new slide, but this annoucement is newsworthy none the less.

Does anybody else think that might be the funniest name for a slide ever?

Who is afraid of a funnel here? Honestly?

I certainly am not. When I first looked at the image I thought "This funnel drops riders into the swimming pool? Dear, what if the raft lands upside down?". Then I made adjustments to my silly mind and realized that the funnel rather leads riders into the swimming pool, not drop them vertically.

While this looks unique for a design, it could get boring after you ride it a certain number of times. I watched the video and that described enough for me, except for the statistics. Other than the stunning design and the near upside-down experience, it's just another instrument to cool guests on a hot day. It ain't no Huss ride, but I understand that not everything needs to hold up to Huss standards.

I think Tunnel of Terror would be a more intimidating name
I'd rather be riding the Voyage

Is this like the Howling Tornado at Great Wolf? If so that looks awesome. We are going to Great Wolf on Super Bowl weekend and I can't wait to ride it!! It looks super scary!

My question is... would it not be cheaper to not top off the "funnel" Since you only make it ony so far up the side and not all the way around? They should have the tunnel tilted less so it would be more like the toilet bowl slide... but on crack...
