Kingda Ka and Down-Time?

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

With Kingda Ka going up for the 2005 season at SFGAdv. How do you think it will compare to TTD and other rockets' down-time?

I'm predicting it'll be down alot like TTD.
Somewhere in Florida a village is missing its idiot. He can be found in Washington D.C.

I think it will have less downtime. I'm guessing/hoping Intamin has figured out what was wrong with TTD, and will make Kingda Ka more reliable. Let's just hope the problems will be fixed because TTD is an awesome ride and i'm sure Kingda Ka will be much better.

We are talking about Six Flags here ;-). The logical answer is that it won't be down as much because I can't see Six Flags investing this much money into a ride that won't work half of the time. But then again, this is all just a huge publicity stunt for Six Flags even it doesn't work, I think it will be considered a success.

SFGAdv won't rush it's opening. I think it'll be pretty reliable with few breakdowns.

Do you mean Intamin? Anyway Intamin has lost some of its credibility from TTD so I would find it very unlikely for Kingda Ka not to work. I just hope it offers a good riding experience, even with the over the head restraints.

Oh yea...300th post

They also lost a lot of credibility when a man was thrown from the train on SFNE's S:ROS.

Yeah, I don't remember the address but I remember there was a list of all the accidents on Intamin rides and it was a eye opener. They had lots of accidents and they weren't just trains bumping at 2 mph. But they have made more rides then basically any other company so what do you expect.

If you flew out of a train do you think that you would die?

It would be quite a miracle if someone survived.

I think that depends on a lot of things like speed, position, and forces. Lets just hope no one flies out of anything, anymore. :)

Kingda Ka, is an upgrade from TTD. i read somewere that they have improved many of the ride eliments to decrease downtime. but then again. TTD is 420 ft tall and speed of 120 MPH and Kingda Ka is 456 Ft Tall and SPeed of 128. So Kingda Ka is taller and Faster then TTD so maybe More down time? since the Launch system has to work harder?
