CEDAR FAIR VS. SIX FLAGS

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.
Postby Cove26flags on August 24th, 2004, 6:07 pm
How come when Cedar Fair puts new additions to their parks there not that good. When Six Flags puts a new one to one of there parks its awsome? People have been talking about how SF is have some money problems, then do they keep adding 10 and up million dollar rollercoasters? For example Six Flags GAm Gets Ragin Cajun,V2,Deja Vue, and Superman-UF. Valley Fair gets Steel Venom.

Six Flags: 4 rollercoaster -4 years (no wonder their having money issues)
Cedar Fair: 1 rollercoaster-4 years

Cedar Fairs spends alot of money on the upkeep of their parks. And they did spend 25million plus on TTD

Cedar Fair has a ton of staff as well. Usually have 5 or 6 ops at the station of each ride. Plus have a DJ in some lines. Have 1 or 2 people at the entrance to the queue of each ride to check oversized people and hieght. After being to two Cedar Fair parks (Cedar Point and Geauga Lake) and one Six Flags park (Great America) I can honestly say that Cedar Fair parks are upkept better.

ahh, on the contrary, i find Cedar Fair ride ops terrible. yes, this will be biased, as i was a sfgam ride op. CF has 5-6 people checking restraints alone, yet they stack like crazy on everyride i was on. on MF, ALL 3 trains were stacked. un-excusable. i was ready to complain to sup. or manager. anyways, at sfgam, i remember running 3 on platform, 1 operator, and 2 restrain checkers, and we intervaled. Now I know that B:tr has only 2 trains, but the ride is a mere 1:45. Well, thats the end of my rant for now, more to come later

Cedar Fair park's are normally superior to their SF competition.

SFGAm is really a unique, jewel, for a Six Flags Park. I have found most of the other ones to be lacking.

The obvious example is that Knott's is a far better maintained and operated park then Magic Mountain.. I have a been going to Knott's for years and even though most park fans would say that some aspects have suffered since CF has taken over, it still is a better environment then SFMM.

They both suck or YOU THINK they both suck!

The only CF park that I thought was bland was ValleyFair, and even that was a nice park.

Dorney is a good park, WOF is a good park but in desperate need for 2 large coasters, Knott's is a great park and a step above a typical regional park.

Maybe you need to experience them again, or for the first time, before you make such blunt statements about what THEY ARE rather then what you think.

I enjoy MIA. I don't get to spend too much time there, and I've never seen it under the stess of large crowds, but what I've seen, I've liked. and that's both before and after CF took over.

CP, on the other hand, I found extremly disappointing. Raptor was an amazing ride and I had a great time with my friends, but the park itself wasn't much to write home about.

btw, CP staff aren't necessarilly as nice as everyone says. we got one of those candy cane sticks rudely shoved in our path not 5 minutes after entering the park and a few of the lifeguards could stand to loosen up too. other than that, I only had one friendly exchange with a CP employee. all the other employees ignored us just like the GAm employees.
I don't have a detonator; its on a timer.
A countdown timer?
No, a count-up timer. It goes from one to explode.

Since I never went to a CF park, I won't say which one I like better. However, I would like to know what rights does CF own? Is Snoopy the only one they use? SF has cartoon network, Looney Tunes, anything on the WB, and DC Comics which include Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman along with other characters.

Ragin Cajun cost about 3 million at the most. The new addition this year cost 6 million for 5 rides. So it couldnt have cost that much.
