I know they tore it down but why? Was it unsafe or something?

I was on it before. It was kind of a boring ride. I'm guessing that it had a low ridership and took it down for more space to build a new ride.

It has gotten the shockwave treatmemt. It sits in pieces on park property. FYI, delerium sits in the place that King Cobra was.(I think)

Yeah it's all bundled up and they took it out. I thought they did it just so they could build on that land. Isn't that the Drop Zone area now? I believe it's up for sale if anyone wants it.

Here's the King Cobra story:

No one is really sure why King Cobra was removed. The guys over at pkiunlimited.com all say that it was starting to suffer a lot of downtime, and maybe even structural problems. It was dismantled in March of 2002, and as the others have said, sits back in the woods rusting away.

From my understanding, there was not a problem at all with ridership, it was a popular ride up until the last day it operated. On my visit in 2001, it had long lines all day, while Flight of Fear was a walk on  .

The plot where King Cobra stood was vacant for 2002, except for a Sling Shot attraction that was added off to the side of where Cobra's loop was. In 2003, PKI opened Delirium on the corner of the site. Drop Zone is located across the midway by the sky coaster.

As for it's future, no one knows. After being for sale for almost three years, it doesn't look too promising. :(
Finally Coaster Season!!
