Wisconsin State Fair

Talk about anything that has to do with the amusement park industry here.

The Wisconsin State Fair is coming up soon August 5th-15th. Even if you dont like fairs and carnival rides this is one fair I would suggest not to miss. The have a very wide selection of flat and thrill rides, also they have a couple ( like 1 or 2 ) roller coasters. Its kinda pricey but for $20 you get a lot of rides. This is something you might want to consider just for the fun of it. :D

I'll be there, I already bought my POP/Gate Admission :)

The midway wont be as extensive this year though. Major loss is the Space Roller will not be in attendance, Cumberland Valley Shows, the rides owner, sent it on a Canadian Route with Conklin Shows to see if there is more money to be had up there. Also there is some contraversy with Murphy Brothers WSF's midway provider, and I'll just say they may not exist anymore and someone else will have to fill the spot, so dont expect all the usual stuff. Should still be a decent lineup though.

We called up and they said Murphy Brothers. Can someone list some of the rides they have besides the couple?

Murphy Bros. does a few of the fairs around here. They seem to have a pretty decent line-up of rides, so it should be a pretty good midway. I'm looking forward to it!

Murphy Brothers came down here August of 2002 I believe. I went and they had awesome rides. I might be going to the Wisconsin State Fair, depends on when I'm going to Cedar Point.

Here's the thing, Jerry Murphy owner of Murphy Brothers Expositions, recently sold all their rides to some show in China, while technically Murphy Brothers holds the fair contract, some other show will cover the spot. (My guess would be Reeds Expo, or Mighty Bluegrass)

I know for sure I'm going twice this year, maybe more becuase I live like 15-20 min. away.

I will tell you to find a park and ride becuase parking is crazy down there. If the fair lot is full, expect to pay anywhere from $15 and on to park anywhere around the grounds!

Yeah...I remember it being hard to park, though the park-n-rides can be really expensive. Me and 3 other friends went down to Summerfest in Milwaukee and the park-n-ride was $10/person round trip. Instead though we ended up paying $15 for the 4 of us to park right outside the Summerfest grounds. So I'd look into prices before anything.

I think on the wisconsin state fair website, they list alternatives like park cheaper at Miller Field and take a free or like $1 bus to the fair. Also if you drive around alittle (go at least 4-5 blocks away) you can find plenty of free or relatively cheap meter parking. I usually park at their local City Hall about 3-4 blocks away.

I suppose I'll take the park and ride this year, even though for Summerfest it was a complete rip off (5 Bucks for a round trip.)

Where did you find park-n-ride for 5 bucks? All we could find was $10 round trip. And that's just ridiculous.

Hmm maybe it was 10, all I remember is that whenever I took it I had a 20 and the driver wouldn't give me change.

I also remember that it was a complete rip off.

if it is $10 this year for the bus I'd strongly suggest allowing an extra 15 mins or so to drive around in like a 6-10 block radius and find a not to seedy looking private parking area or even a free or metered parking space in the area. I think I always end up parking east of the fairgrounds.

I just heard today that Magnum is still out west where it's owner is based out of (Michael Woods out of some town in Arizona) It's set up in CA right now. IT doesnt rule out a Magnum appearance at WSF, but right now I wouldnt count on it. (it always goes to MN State fair((along with Space Roller)), so there is a chance it may still make it's way up here in time for WI)

I guess I'll just be happy if they have the Zipper. I could ride that all day.
