Thats very sad. One question though...Is that the same style of water coaster that the "Dive to Athens" watercoaster is?

It's the same model as Knott's Berry Farms Perilous Plunge.

Not too long after Perilous Pluge opened a larger women fell to her death on Perilous Plunge which resulting in them adding 5 point safety harness's to the ride. I bet this ride will have to undergo they same modifications.

Doesn't say much about the Intamin restraint systems though. The same exact restraint system used for Perilous Plunge and I assume this Hydro ride are also used on rides like Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster and X-Celerator.

The seat Geomerty is vastly different on newer Intamin rides (MF and later), resulting in a much safer mode of restraint. I believe Hydro had the exact same system as PP (I've ridden both, but all I remember is many many gallons(or litres) of water soaking me worse than if I had jumped into a pool. Intamin says on PP if the girl was holding onto the grab bar she would not have flown out(good quote for a laugh), also Intamin says the 5 point harnesses are un-necessary and even dangerous on a ride such as PP.
